Momin 175 not out...perfect innings. Hathu really did his best to try and ruin his career the past few years...fucking asshat.

Mushy out for 92...very disappointing. Mushy has only hit one hundred in Bangldesh...for some reason just can't get the big scores at home.

This wicket still has nothing in it...500 might be chased pretty easily by SL we will need another big partnership to stay safe. Good thing we're bowling last. Lakmal bowled well to get his two wickets.

Lakmal was excellent from whatever little I watched. Other bowlers pretty much non-existent. Herath probably lacking match fitness after coming back from a layoff. Also, very good pitch for batting too, so BD doing everything right after winning the toss and setting a strong tone for the series.

Good to see Tino trying to establish himself in broadcasting . He's on his way to become a hugely respected name in years to come.

Collapse on now. 4 wickets for about 30 odd runs.

Mosaddek playing a silly shot to get out. Will need to bat better in the second innings for sure. We really need to get to 450.

SL end day 1 in a strong postion. 187-1.

The benefit of having 500 on the board of course is that if we can spark a collapse, we can still get a lead of 100+ here. With both teams scoring at 4 an over, should be plenty of time to get a result especially if this pitch breaks up.

One thing I wanted to point out was that we scored 500+ in the subcontinent against a team with 3 specialist spinners (Herath, Sandakan, Perera). Bangladesh faced a total of 86 overs of spin and they maybe played 5 sweep shots the entire innings. Sweeping kind of underlines that sweeping should never be the first line approach to playing spin, nor is it an index of the ability to play spin. Mominul in particular used his feet to come down the wicket but played mostly with a straight bat through cover or straight down the ground. When he went crossed bat, he waited to cut short and wide balls. Sweeping is just too high risk a shot. Its why we've seen Taylor and others get out sweeping or reverse sweeping in the recent past.

This will be critically important when facing spin heavy sides like Afghanistan in the coming weeks and beyond.

Some of the shittest captaincy and bowler management here from BD. This coming from:
a. A Zimbabwean supporter who has seen some of the worst bowler management by captains over the years
b. Someone who has a soft spot for Mahmudullah's talent

I agree about using the feet and sweeping less. All 3 centurions of this match so far have demonstrated that perfectly.

Mahmudullah probably doesn't warrant a spot in the XI purely based on merit. A batting average of 31 is nothing to go gaga over.

History shows SL are in a very good position to actually win this Test.

Bangladesh has a knack of scoring 500 runs and still losing Test matches. In 2012 we had posted 550+ vs the West Indies in Dhaka and then failed to chase 240 in the fourth innings. We also only had to bat out 80 overs to secure a draw. Last year in Wellington we had put up 595 for 8 declared, and then again had a batting collapse to lose with a session or two to spare.

Could very well happen again!

SL should declare at about 700-3...a lead of about 200 and bowl them out within 200 for an innings win..

Will it be a first time where team scored 500+ in first innings and still lost by an innings?
