I wish Mashrafe could play for ever he’s such a great player and has been such a Warrior for BD for so long.

Not that big a Bangladesh fan but if they were to somehow win a major tournament whisky he was there I’d be very happy

The Bangladeshi Heath Streak :D

Yeah Mash is a legend. Cult hero status in BD. He's the first BD cricketer whos retirement will probably bring a few tears to my eyes.

CA has just cancelled the Bangladesh tour this August as they were unable to find a sponsor for the tour!

Disappointing news for sure. BCB should arrange 2 Tests in Ireland or Zimbabwe to gain exposure to foreign conditions instead. I'm sure both teams would lay out greentops for us :D instead of a dead track in dinky Darwin or crappy Cairns. If we aren't being invited to play in Melbourne, Sydney, Perth, Adelaide, or Brisbane not that much of a loss.

#Sour grapes

That’s the report. It’s an off-season tour to Darwin and Cairns. Not surprising. Who would sponsor it there during the off season?

England has also refused to host BD for the same reasons. I guess the massive UK expat Bangladeshis dont have enough interest in cricket to drive demand.

Squad announced for the 1st Test vs Sri Lanka.

17 yo off spinner Nayeem Hasan is the biggest surprise selection since I can remember for BD. Now I remember...he's the biggest inclusion since a 18 yo Mushfiqur Rahim debuted at Lords back in 2005 when we already had our first choice WK in Khaled Mashud.

Nayeem bowled a good spell vs India in the World Cup QFs today taking 2-36. He's a tall spinner, at least 6'0" tall and we could use a tall spinner. I feel his inclusion was mostly to negate Hathu knowing everything about our side since Nayeem only has 9 first class wickets at an average of 62.

Overall its a decent squad. Only guy who doesn't belong is Rubel Hossain, but he's unlikely to make the XI. My XI given this particular squad:

1. Tamim
2. Imrul
3. Mominul
4. Mosaddek
5. Mushfiqur
6. Shakib
7. Liton (WK)
8. Miraz
9. Taijul
10. Nayeem
11. Mustafiz

Another surprise selection a few years ago was Jubair Hossain. He came from left field.

I'm screwed if I understand this Future Tours thing. Once upon a time, a country had to give the ICC a legitimate reason why it couldn't make good on a tour. Or face financial penalties. Australia & England always gave security reasons for not touring Zimbabwe, for instance. And, of course, Aussies canned one tour to Bangla due to a bomb blast.
But to merely say there is no sponsor? Disgraceful!
Mind you, Sutherland & the other fat cats may be on a pay cut since the players won their pay increase. So Bangla have to take a back seat.

Boys played shit cricket again losing to a piss poor SL side for the 2nd time in a row. Yes, complacency was an issue, and pitches produced were poor (probably overused Mirpur tracks). But the most glaring weakness came from the lineup failing twice in a row to read the pitch and bat accordingly. Make it 3 games in a row because 216 vs ZIM was the start of the batting failures.

Shakib out with a finger injury for atleast the 1st Test, possibly the series. The good thing is this guarantees Mosaddek a place in the XI.

Just noticed Bangladesh have dragged Abdur Razzak out from nowhere and added him to the test squad. Welcome back to 2009.

Dumb move IMO. We already have a pretty decent SLA to take over from Shakib in Taijul. Miraz or Musa will take over the spin all rounder slot although both are offies.

I sincerely hope Razzak, Sanjamul, and Tanbir don't make the XI and I don't think they will. I'd much rather try the 17 yo off-spinner just because we know for fact the other 3 guys aren't Test quality bowlers.

I think its obvious that the XI picks itself and hope the management has enough sense to see that as well:

1) Tamim
2) Imrul
3) Mominul
4) Mahmudullah (Vice Captain)
5) Mushfiqur
6) Mosaddek
7) Liton (WK)
8) Miraz
9) Taijul
10) Nayeem
11) Mustafiz

Hopefully, Mosaddek scores enough runs so that when Shakib returns either Liton gets dropped with Mushfiq taking the WK gloves, or Riyad gets dropped even though he's the vice captain.
