BCB simply can't find a coach. Gary Kirsten I think was approached and declined. He was definitely asked to be a batting consultant through the WC 2019, but declined that as well. Now he's on an unheard of mission as an "internal auditor" to advise the BCB which coach would be the best fit.

I'm curious to know what kinda short list the BCB has of guys who are willing to take the job. For some reason, it appears as though this is a job (high paying, I might add) that no one wants.

All the while, there is a very highly reputed domestic coach by the name of Mohammad Salahuddin, but the BCB only wants someone foreign.

Mustafiz injured while training in the IPL will miss the Afghan series. Just hope he's back in time for the West Indies Tests.

Meanwhile, Shakib and Rahim both stating the Afghans are favorites for this series. Looks like they don't really believe it and are just doing it to cover their ass in case they lose.

Afghanistan A win the warm up, thrashing BD by 8 wickets with 16 balls to spare.

Could be a long series for us.

It's indisputable now that Rashid and Mujeeb are world class spinners that the best batsman in the world struggle with ( referring mainly to the IPL ). So the struggles Zimbabwe's batsman had against them doesn't seem as bad now.

Exactly what I was thinking too. This is a really talented BD team they are dominating too. Yes, may be a BD team that is struggling a bit on the tactical side of things, but still, the quality of Rashid, Nabi and Mujeeb is just very high. Dawlat not being there has in fact made them a bit weaker, but they have covered it up well so far. Getting Ghani back at the top is another good move by them.

Guys in our top order who failed in that Sharjah series should just keep that series aside and start afresh. Shouldn't let themselves get affected by what happened there. Especially youngsters like Musakanda and Burl.

Yeah, less embarrassing for us, but for the UAE!!!!! we'd be going ok.

Rashid is class. Might even be the best LOI spinner in the world right now, with Mujeeb close behind. I hadn't rated Mujeeb as he was a touch expensive in the ZIM series and both Hamilton and Mire tonked him around at times. The Irish also handled him well in he bilateral series. Not sure how effective they will be in Tests, but give Rashids googly, I think he will be a top class thread with the red ball too. Mujeeb may struggle in Tests.

Great finds for the Afghans.

Both of these lads are going to be a major handful in red ball cricket as well. They turn the ball a stupid amount, both ways, and quickly. Rashid Khan, even though I don't like the blokes arrogance, has been brilliant for international cricket. What a fantastic find

Bangladesh and last ball finishes...everytime you think it can't get worse...it does. 4 needed off the final ball and a tailender hoiks Rashid for what looks to be a certain 6. At the last moment Shafiqullah flies out of nowhere, leaps as high as he can vertically from 12 inches inside the long off boundary, the ball must have been 9 feet in the air when Shafiq gets both hands to it. But the ball still sails over the ropes but Shafiq somehow manages to push it back into the field. But the drama doesn't end there...his left foot is outside the boundary but on replay it looks like he JUST manages to push the ball back before his heel hits teh turf. It was a clean hit, but just 2 meters short. actually another inch of air and it would have been 6.

This series has been a tremendous success for AFG. Their batsman still lack the ability to find singles - getting bogged down by a pedestrian Bangladesh attack - but they had the power to muscle 6 sixes where the Bangladeshi batsman only managed to find the fielders and top edges. That sort of batting will backfire at the ODI world cup next year and in Test cricket. Its either boundaries or dots for the Afghan batters. Bangladesh has much of the same problem, but enough of our guys can work singles at least on more batting friendly surfaces.
