Ireland and South Africa here - Ireland as they're my current "home" side, and SA as they're an African team who win things.

That match was pure frustration in just soooo many ways, you would not believe. I'm first & foremost a Zim fan, so I was raging that Zim let that one go - but seeing Ireland in the Super 8 was the highlight of the tournament after that...

When we needed something like 15 off 5 overs, I was sure we were home. Having said that, after that horrible Taylor dismissal it just seemed that luck was against us. That was a sad match

At the start of that tournament, I put AU$100 on Pakistan to not make the Super 8 stage. That tie set it up so perfectly as it meant they'd miss out if they lost either of their remaining matches - which they did. It was disappointing from a Zimbabwe fan's POV but it helped the hip pocket and it was good to see Ireland progressing, so I was definitely experiencing mixed emotions that day.

Re: the thread topic; I'm more of a diehard New South Wales fan than I am an Australia fan (or even a Zimbabwe fan..) but I voted for Australia.

Glad to hear you had a bit of a win

I wish I had put $20 on Zimbabwe beating Australia the Twenty20 World Cup. I can't remember what the odds were now (50-1? 10-1? not too sure) but it would have been a good return.
