Who are the Zimbabwe "All Time Greats"

Post by brmtaylor.com admin »

I'll get the ball rolling:
  • Andy Flower
  • Heath Streak
  • Dave Houghton
  • Brendan Taylor
Who else?

That's way too narrow.
How about the people that got us test status? I don't know the exact story there but that would be a great read, there must have been much manoeuvring and negotiating to achieve this.
All those cricketers from our best era that made us competitive are worth a mention. I really enjoyed Eddo Brandes, Henry Olonga, Murray Goodwin, Heath Streak, Paul Strang, Neil Johnson, Ray Price, Grant Flower.
From yesteryear you've got Goofy Lawrence, Mike Proctor, Colin Bland, Brian Davidson, Robin Jackman, Peter Rawson, Duncan Fletcher, Ritchie Kaschula, Joe Partridge
I'll think of a few more. Nice thread.
The muppets that unraveled all the decades of good work would be worth a mention, but in a different thread.

Apologies I forgot John Traicos, Andy Pycroft and on the admin side Dave Ellman-Brown and Alywn Pichanick. This is a nice piece

This is also quite a good article

It says that if Australia hadn't agreed to play us in an ODI series shortly after the walk out, ZCU would probably have had to enter into negotiations with the players. That was a game changer for sure.

Malcolm Jarvis, John Hampshire (honorary great)
Tough people from a tough era. Everyone had jobs and played part time. Ellman-Brown was a practicing lawyer and ran the cricket in his free time with his secretary. It's laughable what's happened, isn't it?

Who is Wellington Marowa, who was Chairman of Zimbabwe Cricket Pioneers' Association? I wonder what his story is?

Go away Robot, you are an annoying troll.

This is also interesting. Chris Venturas is a smart guy, works with Samkange, they usually win their cases.

Samkange and Venturas would have all of this stuff archived. They would have been the right guys to represent the players in their most recent bust up, not this other dude who just rolled over. You pay peanuts and you get monkeys.
They may have done it pro bono if they still had an axe to grind.
