Come on Bangladesh!! Really wanna see them do well in this ICC event. Love how they been branded as a 'dangerous' side. Seriously talented team with players of note (Taskin) waiting in the wings. Got to love seeing Tamim nail those cover drives!

Our Champions Trophy fate now rests in England's hands. Or the rain.

Epic win by Bangladesh. You know for all our chokes over the years (and there have been MANY), we also come through in pressure situations in ICC global events.

Surely, this must rank as one of the greatest comebacks in ODI history given the context, strength of the opposition, seaming and swinging conditions. Can't remember a bigger comeback in my memory.

But this completes a hattrick of unexpected results after Pakistan and Sri Lanka bloodied Saffer and Indian noses.

BD got lucky with the game against Aus but credit to them they batted really well against England and now with the famous win over NZ they're through to the semis ......

^ I would argue that the aussies got fairly lucky twice. The first versus NZ, which they could have lost. Secondly vs England, when they had the Poms at 35-3 chasing 278. Imagine that match was rained out...Aus would have been tied with BD on points and we'd stillmgo through because wins come before net run rate. But in that case, everyone would argue the Aussies missed out on 2 *guaranteed* points. The Aussies got another crack to finish England off, no rain. For all 3 of Australia, New Zealand, and Bangladesh it came down to a must win game...we won ours fair and square. Even after rain outs, Aus and NZ both had a second chance, as did Bangladesh. Playing field was level.

Even the BD-AUS game...who knows, maybe the Aussies would have collapsed losing their last 9 wickets for 80 odd. You can't rule it out in a tournament where:

-BD came back from 33-4 to easily beat NZ
-PAK manhandled SA after being butchered by India
-SL butchered India

To add to that, Pakistan only reached the WC final in 1992 due to rain.

And you have to factor in that 7 of these teams tour England frequently...only Bangladesh doesn't. We are handicapped before the tournament even starts, just like the 2015 WC, where even Zimbabwe and the associates had more exporsure to antipodean conditions. I am pround that our team tries to push that disadvantage of their mind and compete despite having the odds stacked against us.

Well a disappointing end to lose in such a fashion - by 9 wickets with 10 overs left. However, I think the boys were just guilty of making too many mental errors with the bat. Hopefully, lessons learned for the WC in 2 years time, but with our senior players now around the age of 30 we no longer have the "they are young, they have time" excuse. The time is now.

Its apparent that in foreign conditions the batting is too reliant on the core of Tamim, Shakib, RIyad, and Mushy. Sabbir and Soumya were exposed and that is something that needs to be looked at immediately. Who opens and who bats at first drop? I think one possible answer to that is to move either of Mushy, Mosaddek, or Riyad to #3 (essentially everyone in the current order moving up one slot) with Nasir Hossain coming in at #6.

The bowling was poor for most of the tournament, barring the must-win NZ game where they really stepped up. But I also think that had something to do with the toss: nearly every team found it supremely easy to chase down totals in this particular tournament.

A lot of positives, but some serious questions needing to be answered as well.

Does Liton Das feature there as a power hitting option? 750+ runs in DPL 2017 apparently, 50+ avg and 100+ strike rate...

Not sure if Liton is a power hitter or just really fluid with the bat. but Id like to see him as the specialist WK and see Nasir come back. I think its time to bench Soumya and Sabbir.

Great run by Bangladesh! Am glad they made it to the semis and showed the world that the "minnow" tag is just so much coded discrimination masquerading as "objectivity".

well some say Bangladesh didnt deserve to be in the semis and lucked out due to rain. they point to the ease wuth which India won as proof. certainly debatable.

champions trophy proved BD still has a long way to go to be a top 4 side and contend for championships. #6 is fairly reflective of where we stand...we arent a powerhouse, not yet at least.

Is it really a great tournament for BD considering they only won one game? They were beaten fairly comfortably by England considering they made 300+ and were getting pumped by Australia before the rain set in. Of course the win over NZ was special to get through to the semi where they were again convincingly beaten by India. I know the rain played havoc with the tournament, but I think BD have achieved too much over the past 3 years to think winning 1 game at the Champions Trophy is a success ??
