If Shingi, Chamu and Regis are playing against these guys, then Chisoro, Madziva and Jongwe should have no hope of even thinking about representing Zimbabwe again. May as well migrate to Australia in numbers!
Surely we haven't swept these chaps aside because they should form the core of the team when the current players step aside. They have the experience and have been around for long enough. To add to that they have even won us a few games. Chisoro should already be part of the team proper. Madziva should be a pick for the short format stuff as well. Jongwe should lay off the booze but then again that never stopped Taylor from being picked.
Huge problems in Zimbabwe cricket! That's why I was surpised that people here were not outraged at the talent we deem "surplus to requirements". Yes the selectors and coaches might think and act differently, but surely the fans can at the very least express some form of displeasure when ceertain things happen or don't happen.

I did argue that discipline has never been a factor in Zimbabwe cricekt when it counts. Only when Alistair Campbell was evil towards Vusi Sibanda and removed him from the tour to New Zealand were rules applied. Othe than that arguably the only time the disciplinary committee acted - not Mangongo alone - was when Panyangara was sacked for that Mitchell Johnson. Brendan Taylor survived it in that huge issue he lied about some time ago (involved a number of high profile figures he contradicted and lied about including Houghton) - something he wouldn't have survived in any other board. So again, discipline is not a factor.

Mangongo had his issues with Jongwe, but when last did he coach Zimbabwe? Two-and-a-half years ago when Jongwe was still a teenager!!!

I think Zimbabwean cricket fans who are based in Zimbabwe have a right to point out these things to the Zimbabwe cricket board and bring them up. Without fail (and injuries permitting) - Chisoro, Panyangara, Madziva and Wellington will be in the next red ball XI, while Shingi and Panyangara will be in the Test XI.

Kaia strikes with his first bowl. Chopping and changing things does work sometimes. We need to wrap up these innings and hope our batsmen can put the work in.
The only excuse we can have for Chamu is that perhaps he was disinterested in this game. Otherwise his captaincy left a lot to be desired really.

Innocent Kaia and Kunje bat 3 and 4 for their Logan Cup sides on average, so I was hoping to see Regis and Chamu open, with Chari coming in at 3, so we can see these younger less experienced guys get a chance to score big after the new ball has been seen off.

Hopefully they do this then Chamu, Chari, Regis, Kasuza, Kaia, Kunje, Gumbie(wk).

We are in a spot of bother here 77/3. Chari being resolute 42 of 90 deliveries. Such performances will warrant him getting a look in come October.

162/4 now. Chari gone.

I did fear Zuma would be tough to handle based on what I know of him. I don't know much of Cele and have asked around with limited success, so I'm still keen to get an update from someone over there.

Nonetheless they have enough quality for Regis to have seen the importance of shielding them. The likes of Malcolm Waller and Burl may have had decent stats for the A/XI side, but they often batted lower, and Moor too a number of occasions. Kunje seems to be benefitting a bit form that in this game, but the reason Kasuza hasn't played an international for ZImbabwe is because he has always been at the top of the order for Zim A and battled there. He just needs two decent knocks from the middle like a Malcolm Waller in order to get in the frame.

But there is such a huge pool of fast bowling talent in SA right now that I don't even know how the system here will handle them all to be quite honest. Plus they are all very well coached, far more that seamers from the subcontinent Full Members.

The SAE really jus bulling us now. Only five bowlers used and Zim A seemed to have no reply at.

Zim have seen off the last 9 overs of the day without any losses. So a draw is very much attainable.

Lets see if the batters step up and if so who in particular.

I think Regis might be the the guy to get us the draw.. Chari can bat out a few overs...

Gumbie doesn't seem to be struggling but he isnt pushing on.. the SA emerging are probably his age group too.. still shocked at the fact that Gumbie Jongwe and Kunje didn't make the rising stars.. guys with actual first class experience. Sends the wrong message to them.. the current management are doing a good job but I feel like sometimes some of their decisions are more personal than fact based. Surely those 3 guys I mentioned would crack an official Zim emerging team along with Musakanda Burl Mashinge etc

I wonder what the thinking is in the change room. But a draw would be a better result for the team. The questiong is can the bat the 90 overs. In the first innings they only managed 64overs. So a total of 100 will be a tough ask but all the same its a good chance to show ones pedigree. Its a better start from the openers. Lets see how they can build from here on in.

Kasuza batted almost 40 overs today to score 82.. exactly what was needed in that situation. Good to see.. definitely a couple of guys showing they have what it takes. Hopefully we can get to a situation of playing 8-10 tests a year one day so that we can actually create a lane for specialists

Kasuza really stepped up to save this game. Kunje and Kiai did OK...one would have hoped to see a few more runs from them.

its hard to know if they are ready for the Test side because their FC averages only range from 25 to 32ish. But Kasuza grabbed his chance Id say.

Id like to see Chari ahead of Chibabha because he is young and has the fight like Mawoyo.
