I remember also the last time zim were in pakistan for the sharagai trophy and paynagara caused pakistan a bit of trouble. Get this guy back in the squad!!!!!
Aside from this for the time being we have to work with what we have and rainsford would be in my side definetly. Maybe i would even see if David Mutendera would play as he is six foot six bowls at a fast speed and he has been playing club cricket this year.
This guy actually has experience of playing ODI and test cricket..Give him another shot perhaps

yer true panyangara was class but i dont see him coming back, I thouht Anthony Ireland was a very promising young fast bowler its a pity hes quit international cricket but i think he will return at some point now that price and some senior players are back in the side that would be a huge boost, also i think Mawire should get a recall he had some pace and swing and recently done well against namibia

I see Mahwire coming back soon should he continue the good run on the South African Domestic League.

Anthony Ireland was a huge loss to Zimbabwean cricket. He was an ODI bowler of international level. Chibhahba on the other hand isn't. He shouldnt be bowling at all in ODIs let alone at first change. Ed Rainsford is a very promising bowler who needs to be back in the side. But we do need to unearth some genuine fast bowlers, it is shame Travis Friend is no longer available as I remember when he first came on the scene he bowled very quickly. Panyangara was also a big loss.

As I mentioned in another topic it is a shame Ryan Bennet and Ian Nicholson aren't playing in Zimbabwe these days. They were fast promising bowlers. What do people know of this young pace bowler in the domestic scene at the moment by the name of Ntuli?
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes

Ntuli is a relative unknown in the Zim cricket scene. All I know about him is what is on the bios page. His club team is Bulawayo Athletic Club.

http://www.brmtaylor.com/player_bios.ht ... lani_Ntuli
Khawulani Ntuli
Teams: Westerns
Khawulani Ntuli is a young allrounder who originates from Bulawayo. He has a tendancy to be quite an expensive bowler, and needs to work on keeping his economy rate under 5 an over. He is quite a good batsman, averaging 37 in the Faithwear Cup, although he needs to increase his strike rate in one day matches
Time for a bit of speculating:

He's been ranked alongside Mpofu in terms of pace, so he could potentially be a few kms faster. Cricinfo say he is a right arm fast-medium, and they also say that Mpofu is only right arm medium, which helps our theory that Ntuli is the next big thing in Zimbabwe fast bowling

I'm not sure how fast Mpofu is (surely 130-135 max?) so that means at best Ntuli could realistically be high 130's. Hey, if we have anyone that can clock close to 140 (hopefully without straining like Chigumbura did, he was really struggling to hit 135) then we should be getting game time into them.

mpofu is 125-130kmh and considering his hieght he should be bowling a lot quicker but on his day he is a decent bowler cause of the bounce he can get. havnt heard of that other lad that youve mentioned brmtaylor hopefully he gets a look by selectors after playing for the A team. i think rainsford and chigumbura would be a good opening bowling combination with brent first change chibahba is in my opinion no better than a part time bowler he shouldnt be used so often!!!

Considering Rainsford got a 4-fer and a 6-fer in the SAA Provincial match, I'd say he'll probably be back in the ODI team pretty soon.

Tawanda Mupariwa (max 110 kmh · avg 100 kmh)
Keith Dabengwa (max 85 kmh · avg 80 kmh)
Again, I didn't see Williams speed because the stream was cutting in and out.

Mupariwa was consistently bowling in the 97/98 bracket. Surprisingly, it took Taibu quite a while to stand up to the stumps. At speeds as slow as that, he should be up there early, putting the pressure on the batsman and opening up the stumping.

Dabengwa was around 80-82 usually, with a high that I saw of 85. He bowled a bit wide though and got a hammering.

Does anyone know much about Brendon Marsh other than what is on the player bio page? He is meant to be a promising fast bowler.

I don't know how quick he bowls - apparently he is genuinely quick, but in the Freedom Takarusenga interview only Mpofu and Ntuli's names were mentioned. He's more or less a specialist one-day bowler having played all Faithwear matches last year but no Logan Cup matches, I think he can bat a bit down the order too (in the Anthony Ireland mould I believe). He rates Westerns chances of success this season quite highly due to the abundance of young talent, he says they just need to be given the right opportunities.

He's in the Westerns preliminary squad this season, so there's a good chance we will know more about him as the domestic season progresses.

Westerns preliminary squad: T Chipare, T Chirwa, M Fuzwayo, Leroy James, Romeo Kasawaya, Simbarashe Kusano, Mbekezeli Mabuza, T Madiri, G Mamhiwo, Brendon Marsh, Thabo Mboyi, K Moyo, Bornaporte Mujuru, Munir Mukadam, Brian Mukondiwa, Tafadzwa Ngulube, Khawulani Ntuli, John Nyumbu, S Rukato, Freedom Takarusenga, Bradley Staddon, Gregory Strydom, Matthew Williams.
