To be honest I think we need 450 in the first innings to be competitive.
If this pitch detiorates as we all think it will, you can add 50-75 "effective runs" to whatever total ZIM eventually gets. Or conversely multiply by 1.25 or so. So 350 would be effectively around 435.

But yes the conditions on day 1 would make 300-5 a par score. But conditions could worsen considerably by the time BD gets in to bat.

Burl ought to open domestically and solve the problem
I was the first to call this; Ryan Burl's opening into this side is at numbers 1 and 2, he's not getting in the middle order because of the strength
And I am on board finally

No secret I’m a big Eddy Rainsford fan but he is hammering PJ’s technique and inability to sweep, who gives a fuck he is surviving and is slowly building his innings.

I think it’s a clear instruction from Rajpot to not sweep as much and play the spinners straight, you can see the difference with Regis he hasn’t tried to play across the line to the spinners at all, he’s gotten outnthat way so many times before.

Well done Rajpot 👏🏻👏🏻

Yeah, I think a 4 at the front of our score at least. The bowling is going to have to bowl with considerable discipline.

Chakabva averages 50 against Bangladesh and has done well in these conditions before. I think he should be a certainty.
Looking back at last tornhe killed it with that unbeaten century and two more 50 plus scores, since then though he’s only passed 50 once in tests and his keeping to the spinners is ‘hit or miss’

BT is a much better keeper but I’m concerned about him spending 150 overs keeping then trying to bat for a few hours.
BT is not a better keeper than Chakabva by any stretch or margin. Not even. And this will soon be confirmed I suspect by selectors when Chakabva keeps in the innings. If he hasn't been selected to keep already.

Otherwise, I am pleasantly surprised by Zimbabwe's effort on Day One. Have always said we play Tests better than these short formats but yesterday is quite unbelievable. Not steller but really, really decent from the boys. Well done.

Regis will keep but that’s more to do with them not wanting to put too much of a work load on BT rather than Regis being a better keeper.

Short memory Conant it was the missed chances by Regis that cost Zimbabwe in the Sri Lanka Test & the Windies series.
