Should Australia have its test status suspended?

Post by eugene »

With Australia being pummeled by all and sundry has it become time to start questioning Australia's place at the table with the big boys? Throw in the ball-tampering saga and there is little redeeming about Australian cricket.

Imagine if Zimbabwe were getting smashed at home by India like this? The calls would be very loud for our test status to be removed.

If Sri Lanka beat us then the public will probably turn. At the moment you can just chalk it up to King Kohli and India being very good, but if we get rolled by the mighty SL then I don't think it'll go over well.

There's not a lot of quality in the batting. The bowling has a lot of potency, but the top 6 are a far cry from the sides of yesteryear, even as recently as 2013. Something needs to change, for sure.

How many of the current Zimbabwe batting line up would walk into the Australian lineup? Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams for sure. Maybe Sikandar Raza also?

I often bring this point up that when ever Zimbabwe gets hammered in a test they always call for their status to be looked at, but it’s not the same when England get bowled out for 50 or Australia gets thrashed.

I will say that credit needs to go to India and especially Kohli & Shastri, their plans in the field have been well thought out and superb and their bowlers have been sensational. I’ve never before seen an Indian team bowl so well, Bumrah & Shami have been 10/10 this series.

For Australia the issue is the cupboard is bare plain and simple, the public keep calling for the likes of Wade, Maxwell & Burns to be brought in, but they forget these guys were the ones they were calling for to be dropped 12 months ago.

Marsh & Khawaja have let the side down big time being the senior batsman and although Head & Harris look good they seem to get in then play poor shots to get out. The return of Smith and Warner can’t come quick enough.

Williams definitely not. He is in form now, but its only over the course of one or two series. Lets not forget that midway through 2017 Ervine was in MUCH better form than Williams and he wasn't mentioned in your post even under a "maybe". Raza has been consistent for a couple of seasons now, but his failing is that he refuses to grab a game by the balls by making big daddy scores.

Taylor is the one guy who has been consistently consistent and shown an ability to make big scores over a period longer than 1 or 2 series. But would Taylor walk into a full strength Aussie lineup? I don't know. He's certainly better than one of the Marsh brothers (possibly both of them), but Smith, Warner, Khawaja, Handscomb are solid batters. He could probably slot in at 5 or 6 if he's a wicket keeper replacing Paine. Taylor is probably better than Paine and Wade.

This is the most ridiculous thing I have read in a while.
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

No one in zim is good enough to play test cricket for aus , Shaun marshs Head is wanted by the public here and the bloke averages 34 at test level , pretty much the same as Taylor 😂Williams average is 27-29 ? Raza can’t play the short ball so imagine him on Aussie pitches 👍I know the aussies are struggling but they have still won a test and made it a decent series, take out kholi and Pujara from their lineup and aussies win the series easily ! They got done for cheating and the whole nation has suffered , short term pain long term gain . Aussies will always be up the top and are just going through a tough patch. England went through the same , South Africa will be very soon once Amla and faf are gone ,India are the number one side for a reason and New Zealand is having their golden era of cricket . It’s good for the game that this is happening .

Handscomb is a better keeper than Taylor and handscomb would not be allowed near the gloves. Mathew wade lost his job because he missed a few stumpings and dropped a few catches especially off Lyon. There is no way in hell Taylor would have the quality or fitness to keep
For aus . Some of these posts are seriously baffling me, saying Taylor is better than Paine .paine is picked as a keeper his batting comes second . His keeping is top 3 In the world and does not miss much if not anything , his batting average is pretty much the same as Taylor’s as well . Taylor probaly is a Better batsman but people saying you would pick Taylor over Paine as a keeper . I highly doubt you have watched Paine keep closely . Honestly these comments are nuts
