I thought a couple of the UAE games were being held in Bulawayo??

Either way it doesn't matter, at least we have 9 ODI's to look forward to, odd that the UAE series is only a 4 game series

Fairly certain Cremer is in dubai for a while.
You can never be certain a team is coming here until they actually check into The Meikles.
We need some international cricket so badly. Can’t wait.

I wonder if Roy Kaia’s name has been mentioned across the selection table? He has of course played the one ODI before in Pakistan of all places, he didn’t get a chance to bat or bowl though as a dust storm ended the game early IIRC.

He’s currently 3rd on the Run charts & equal 2nd on the wicket takers list with still 1 game to play. His List average of 27 doesn’t standout but his bowling average is 22.

If Zimbabwe decide to go for 4 seamers then having another batsman who can bowl spin might be an option

IRE vs AFG series tied 1-1 with two more games to go. The most notable thing was, the pitch had significant turn and yet Mujeeb went for 1-55 and Rashid 1-44. Impressive shit from the Irish, who I think won the series 2-1 vs the Afghans last time they were in India.

Interesting to see what way the selectors go with the batting lineup, looking at the 'incumbents' compared to the form players from the Pro50

Hamilton - Hand injury no real form or time spent in the middle

Zhuwao - No form & has had a horrible Pro50

BT - Tore his calf in the PSL, in & out of the lineup in both BPL & PSL

Williams - Didn't feature in any BPL games, hasn't really hit any form in the Pro50

Raza - Like BT minimal time in the middle during both BPL & PSL

Moor - Has spent time in the middle in Pro50 but with mixed results

Elton - Has enjoyed a really good Pro50 averaging 83 with a couple of 50 plus scores & a pair of Not Outs.

Now compare the top 6 scorers from the Pro50

Ervine - 391 runs only being dismissed once with two hundreds, likely to be in the side

Roy Kaia - 309 runs @ 61.8 with a hundred and a 99* ( 8 wickets as well ) hard to see him break into the side though

Tymcen Maruma - 240 runs @ 48 with one hundred, leading Logan Cup run scorer too, issue for Maruma has always been taking his domestic form to the next level.

Regis - 228 runs @ 57 with one hundred, hard to see him in after so many failed chances in ODI's.

Chari - 177 runs @ 35 with one hundred, not as prolific as the guys above him but maybe the most likely (apart from Ervine) considering him being an opener & Zhuwao looks highly unlikely to be picked.

Kamunhukamwe - 170 runs @ 34, no real big score but plenty of decent contributions, likely battling Chari for an opening spot.

Obviously the big disclaimer on the Pro50 runs is the opposition bowling, looking particularly at yesterday's game where Kaia & Maruma made hundreds, the bowling lineup of Thsuma, Mboyi, Masuku, Ndolvu, Nyumbu & Williams isn't really giving anyone sleepless nights

Yeah, the incumbents' form / fitness is shockingly bad at them moment. Ervine will have to come in and be the savior...

Roy Kaia and Maruma should get a look in. They are in good form. Will be interesting to see how the selector treat them. On the bowling front Jakiel should at least be making the training squad.

Interestingly you mentioned that Maruma struggles to do it at an international level. Could we not say the same about Burl? Burl averages 15.4 after 13 games with a high score of 30. Maruma averages almost 10 with a high score of 32 after 17 games

Selectors have never really made the Logan Cup and List A comp their benchmark over the years. We will see how they decide this time. The UAE games for me are the perfect games to test out some of these top performers.

The T20 specialists basically missed most of the season so I think they need to play every game too.
