Interestingly you mentioned that Maruma struggles to do it at an international level. Could we not say the same about Burl? Burl averages 15.4 after 13 games with a high score of 30. Maruma averages almost 10 with a high score of 32 after 17 games

Selectors have never really made the Logan Cup and List A comp their benchmark over the years. We will see how they decide this time. The UAE games for me are the perfect games to test out some of these top performers.

The T20 specialists basically missed most of the season so I think they need to play every game too.
Well Burl isn’t on the list is he? If he was I would more than likely have said as much as I did in another thread where his name came up. The comment about Maruma is fair as his numbers show.

I haven’t seen him bat for a while but unless he has improved his technique I can’t see him doing well for Zimbabwe, he’s quite an attacking player which obviously suits him well in Zimbabwe against the LC bowlers, but Afghanistan is a whole different ball game.

TBH he wouldn’t be my side but you can’t really ignore his form, I guess it all depends how much he has improved. I still remember him playing against Pakistan when the home crowd was begging for him to get himself out 😂😂😂 he looked like a club No.11 just swinging wildly at every ball.

Let’s hope he’s improved

Maruma would have wanted to have completely reinvented himself because the times I’ve watched him bat he was absolutely putrid . Good on him for knocking the door down but it’s time to blood youngsters and give them a decent run .
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

I see on social media there’s a rumor that Afghanistan have pulled out.

This is so disheartening. Those guys actually see no merit in playing us, that’s a proper slap in the face. Mukhulani and his fellow robbers must be now thinking they could possibly manage to go a couple of years without a game and those dumb fucks at ICC will keep sending 10 mil a year? They could put in a couple of maize crops at some of the grounds and life would be good for them.

Can’t really blame ZC for this tbf, I can also understand Afghanistan wanting to play in Scotland and Ireland as warm up. But what I don’t get is why they approached Zimbabwe and agreed to play only to pull out? Shit form from Afghanistan, short memories they forgot we were the only full member willing to play them regularly.

Yes we can. We’ve been how long without an international? All the other teams are playing international cricket and we’re twiddling our thumbs waiting to play UAE!! Where’s the $10 million for this year gone?

If in fact Afghanistan are cancelling this tour, then it should serve a really worrying sign for the ZC that they've fallen one more rung down the pecking order. Its now gotten to the point that AFG feel that even beating Zimbabwe in a series is not worth the trouble. Unsurprising, given that ZIM's strongest format is now Test cricket.

This is not good by Afghanistan, have never really liked them because of their arrogant attitude.

Cannot stress the need for Zimbabwe to play more international cricket. It's ages since they last played a game, even if top countries are bust preparing for WC, they need to strike a deal with Scotland, Netherlands or even Nepal, just get some game time folks, you cannot play once in 6 months and stay relevant in this day and age.

As of now it's 4 ODIs against UAE next month and a tour of IRE in July... Nothing else is known. Yeah T20WC qualifier in OCT.. they are playing next to nothing.
