Zimbos in UK: 2019 season

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

Usually zimfan1 starts this thread. The UK county season is well and truly on. We can track the progress of some of the guys with Zim links in the County championships and lower rung seasons here.

Blessing Muzarabani, Gary Ballance, Ed Byrom, Ben Curran & Nick Welch could get decent game time through the season. Anyone else in top flight county cricket?

Good thread Crimson, there are a lot of Zimbos heading to the UK to play club cricket this year, possibly more than any other season. These are the ones I am aware off so far. I think I will make a spreadsheet to keep track of their progress over the summer:

Luke Jongwe - Read CC (Lancashire)
Ernest Masuku - Dukinfield CC (Manchester)
Brian Chari - Bovey Tracey (Somerset) - Malcolm Lakes old club
Nkosana Mpofu - Ferguslie CC (Scotland)
Roy Kaia - Bognor Regis CC (Sussex)
Tari Musakanda - Budleigh Salterton CC (Devon)
Ryan Burl - Haslingden CC(Lancashire)
John Nyumbu - Grantham CC (Lincolnshire)
Trevor Garwe - Madeley CC (Shropshire)
Ryan Butterworth - Minster (Sheppey) CC
Timmy Maruma - Cherry Tree CC (Lancashire)
Tendai Chisoro - Epson CC (Surrey)
Kudzai Maunze - Hadley CC (London)
Tino Mutumbodzi - Hatherleigh CC (Devon)
Regis Chakabva - Saffron Walden CC (Essex)
Vusi Sibanda - East Molesey CC (Yorkshire)
Shingari Masakadza - Stokesley CC (Yorkshire)
Tapiwa Mufadza - Dumfries cricket club (Scotland)
AJ Moor - Northdown (Ireland)
Greg Lamb - The Hills (Ireland)
Tony Munyonga - Rockingham CC (Yorkshire)

Please let me know if you have any more players to add and I will add them to the data base.

Blessing made his debut for Northants today, took a couple of wickets but went at five an over. I predict he will be released and back in Zimbabwe within two years. He is going to get smashed around the place.

Or else he will respond well, play brilliantly and become so valuable that Northants will make sure he never does come back! (Pardon my cynicism!)

If he’s taking consistent wickets they will keep him but 5 and over is a worry , cricket clubs are obsessed with huge. Bowlers . Wait and see I guess , I personally think he is good enough , if he’s got half a cricket brain and adjusts his lengths he could be anything .
The Zimbabwe Cricket team have found Ebola in one of their members, but they're not concerned because they have also found Ebatsmen and Efielda!

I think they know they’re getting a very raw player in Blessing so they’ll give him a little bit of time to learn and improve

One of the best things for Muzarabani could be playing alongside Jason Holder, another crazy tall bowler but one who is well known for his economy. Hopefully he gets some great advice from Holder across the season.
