Great news coming in, looks like ZC and SRC have reached some agreement.

Pepsi, Spar, FastJet, etc... if these companies are willing to ignore a little T20 carnival then obviously the appetite exists to sponsor cricket.

Who are ZC's major sponsors? Well just go to their website and find out: https://zimcricket.org/index.php?option ... Itemid=136
That ZC page has been under construction for a few years. The latest news on the home page is from 2016. The website is symptomatic of the organisation.

Hopefully its the right agreement and not just another agreement that keeps us in the dark ages.

Seriously let's hope so mate... At least there is some movement in the right direction instead of just blaming each other.

Even if ZC gets reinstated, it remains to be seen if the ICC will take an early decision on suspension or will they take it only on 12th October, the latter meaning both teams miss out on Qualifiers... That will be very sad.

As per Cricket feternity is concerned, cricket nations supporting Zimbabwe to come out from this dark phase are India, Pakistan & Bangladesh. No major response has come from other nations including neighbour South Africa

The ICC Board unanimously decided that Zimbabwe Cricket needed to be punished to ensure that there is also no government interference in its administration for cricket.

ICC funding will be suspended, and representative teams from the country will be barred from participating at ICC events, putting their participation in October’s men’s T20 World Cup Qualifier in jeopardy.

“We do not take the decision to suspend a Member lightly, but we must keep our sport free from political interference,” said ICC chairman Shashank Manohar.

“What has happened in Zimbabwe is a serious breach of the ICC Constitution and we cannot allow it to continue unchecked. The ICC wants cricket to continue in Zimbabwe in accordance with the ICC Constitution.”

If you blame ICC President, Shasank Manohar working against Zimbabwe, then its wrong, in 2016 he also had issues with BCCI regarding profit share, but BCCI had to accept it

“If ICC withdraw funding (then) Zimbabwe is finished as this is probably 99% of their revenue,” Streak said.

“The current economic and political environment is tough so (there is) very little support coming from sponsors and corporates.”

An agreement was reached after the two parties met and the SRC is set to announce the lifting of the ZC board’s suspension.

While SRC board chairman Gerald Mlotshwa yesterday said no agreement had been reached yet, usually reliable sources suggested otherwise.

Following their suspension from the ICC and the closing of financial tapes last month, ZC had been given until October to get their suspension lifted by the SRC.

The ICC ruled last month that the suspension of ZC board members was some form of government interference which is a violation of the ICC statues.

ZC board members were suspended following the decision to go ahead with their elective annual general meeting in June, despite the SRC directing that the meeting be suspended.

The SRC also demanded to institute an audit on ZC’s financials, but the cricket body refused to cooperate, instead demanding that the results of a similar audit that was conducted under the supreme sports body in the country last year, be released first before a new exercise could be conducted.

The fiery feud between the two parties culminated in the suspension of ZC by the ICC and Zimbabwe risked expulsion from the global body if they failed to meet the October deadline to put their house in order.

Zimbabwe's administrative hassles, which have led to their ICC suspension, have given Namibia a chance of securing a maiden entry to the ICC Women's T20 World Cup to be played in Australia next year.

Meanwhile, Nigeria will take the 14th and final spot, in place of Zimbabwe, for the Men's T20 World Cup Qualifier to be played in the UAE in October. Nigeria finished third in the Africa Men's Qualifier final and will be the third African side in the global qualifier alongside Kenya and Namibia.
Thank you Kirsty Coventry, Gerald Mlotshwa, Dve Ellman-Brown, Vince Hogg and his dog.

Job well done!

Still no official statement that ZC is reinstated. Missing out on T20WC is surely not the end, not at all... But expulsion in October will be.
