Hard to pick between your mate and your career, but one would think KJ would understand if guys skipped the wedding to play Logan Cup. The other thing is, why have your wedding in cricket season to begin with when you know Logan Cup scheduling is haphazard? At the end of the day, KJ got married and made the Test team whilst a guy like Moor did not. Sometimes you have to be selfish.
Kyle did take 10 wickets including a 6fer in his 2 games.
BT scored a big ton. In theory, had they both not performed i wouldn't be surprised if they were also left out.
I spoke to PJ Moor this afternoon. He says he missed the first Logan Cup match because he was on an overseas visit to see relatives and, like all of us, had no idea beforehand when the season was going to start. He played in the second match for Rhinos without much success, and sought and received permission from ZC to miss the third to attend Kyle Jarvis's wedding, like several other players, not wanting to let his friend down. He was assured by ZC that it would not be held against him. He returned in time for the next Logan Cup match - which was postponed. He has been training very hard and feels in good form, so naturally he is not happy with the decision of the selectors to omit him from the squad. He has and is doing all he can, his only fault being not to make many runs in the only match he was able to play.
It all sounds very sincere and I sort of understand, BUT these are excuses/reasons which will wash in club cricket not Test cricket. I feel bad for the guys because the last round got cancelled but really PJ must have known he was pushing his luck missing two games for personal reasons, he really should have chosen to miss one or the other.
Also I follow all games played at any level in Zimbabwe (that are shown on crichq) and Moor didn't play any Vigne Cup matches, maybe he should have played some club cricket.
It's annoying that the best Zimbabwe side won't be on the park for these Tests, but hopefully in the long run this is a good lesson for all.
These guys are always going on holiday, attending weddings, etc., during our three month cricket season. Either they are professional cricketers or they aren't. This shows that many of our players don't really have the passion needed to be international sportsmen, it is merely a nice career for them.

A major problem this year in particular was that nobody knew what sort of a cricket season, or when, it when be until three or four days before it actually started. I can understand that they couldn't put their lives on hold waiting for ZC to get its act together on that. But even Jarvis arranged his wedding between Christmas and New Year, which is normally a break period in the season. Not this year! So quite a few players like him and PJ found their plans not to miss any cricket scuppered, unexpectedly and almost at the last minute, by the unexpected Logan Cup round.
I knew there would be more to it than players thinking they are above the game and taking time off when they want.
ZC are disorganised. How can anyone plan their lives. ZC must have said to these guys, "we have no idea as yet and are working on it". Kyle is not going to put his wedding off for some incompetence. If a guy received approval to be away, then he has been given approval, ZC have no leg to stand on.
All in all, we probably have the team based on current Logan cup form, which in theory is good. The problem is that with Zim it's not good in the sense that some of these players are kind of being thrown to the wolves without much cricket. Others are being held to account for the failings of the board.
I told you guys, I know he hasn’t even made his way in FC yet, but you can’t keep a brilliant player like that quiet for long. More time on the ball than ANYBODY In world cricket. That’s a huge statement but there it is. He’s destined for great things. I watched at least 6 hundreds of his last year and I’m in awe. I reckon if you fired a gun at his chest he’d do a matrix and avoid it or ramp it for 6.
He plays a different game to anyone else I’ve seen.
Bear in mind he was passed up by ZC for U19 in favour of a South African body building midget
They let the next Andy Flower slip through their fingers
It’s hard to describe the sheer uselessness within their ranks. It’s a great word. Completely without use
I need my meds.
