I said ZIM's best bet would likely be at Pakistan's expense rather than BD's. I'm not sure if this Pak squad is as strong as the ones they usually put out. Naseem Shah is probably a big miss with his pace.jaybro wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:11 amYes very disappointing for a side that promised so much,, I guess Kriterion was right in saying Zimbabwe wouldn't progress through. In the end of the day the lack of any decent fast bowling options and the imbecile decision to bat Dane at 9 killed their chances.

I don’t disagree but who gets the boot to make room to give these guys a chance?jaybro wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:21 amUsually I'd be against it but for Wes and Shumba they're a special case and I believe they should be in the ODI squad to go Bangladesh. Most young guys need time to find themselves and their game in club and domestic cricket, but I feel these two much like BT did, can find their feet and adapt in the international game.
Wes loves the ball coming on so I'd have him opening, whilst Shumba can play down the order as a middle to lower order batter and bowl some spin.

Wes can replace Ainsley but it's going to be difficult for Shumba to replace Mudzinganyama. They offer the exact same thing. I'm assuming PJ and Burl will be in too. Chatara as well. going to be a difficult squad to pick.Googly wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 4:10 amI don’t disagree but who gets the boot to make room to give these guys a chance?jaybro wrote: ↑Thu Jan 23, 2020 12:21 amUsually I'd be against it but for Wes and Shumba they're a special case and I believe they should be in the ODI squad to go Bangladesh. In all this, Musakanda is sinking further and further down the pecking order. Especially with the recent drunk driving expulsion in Aus. What a sad waste of talent.
Moor, Burl, Munyonga, Kamunhukamwe, Kasuza, Mudzinganyama would all be ahead of him in the pecking order now across formats. Soon probably even Shumba, Madhevere and Myers too.
You also have the confirmed selection of Chamu Chibhabha to deal with. I genuinely thought Musakanda would show so much progress that by now he would be national captaincy material.

Tari had voted with his feet. If that charge affects his ability to play in the UK then he’s got no choice but to play here permanently. I recall him not being rated by the coach, hence him plying his trade outside. You can scratch a better living playing club cricket elsewhere than playing FC here. We’re basically back to amateur status. If you’re not in the running for a national spot why would you hang around if you’ve got choices?
Re: ICC Under 19 World Cup 2020 : ZIM U19 VS PAK U19 , Potchefstroom
They almost named Tari captain . Crazy how far he has fallen. The good thing is that there is a lot cricket to be played this year. He just has to lay low, approach Brent and ask him for a chance and move from there.
Wes and Shumba are the ZC golden boys because of how early they identified them. They will give them preferential treatment so that they can go to the ICC board meetings and say look we are doing something. They will probably go to Bangladesh

I watched a little snippet of Wes' early boundaries yesterday on the ICC website. This boy has class. We've been crying out for someone who actually fancies the new ball--and isn't a stonewaller--for ages.
Shumba's bowling impressed me in the pre-tournament-tournament.

Is there a path for Zim to still progress?
Obviously we need to smash the scots, but what else needs to happen?
