A serious talent.

For the first time in years I’m going to name my ideal ODI XI:

1. Ryan Burl
2. Brendan Taylor (give the bloke the best opportunity to score)
3. Sean Williams (versatile and very much the utility batsman)
4. Craig Ervine
5. Wesley Madhevere
6. Tari Musakanda
7. Milton Shumba
8. Donald Tiripano
9. Brandon Mavuta
10. Richard Ngarava
11. Blessing Muzarabani

I'm pretty sure BT wants number 4. But he should open buy that's what he wants.

ODI IMO - with what I suspect in terms of batting preference

1 Burl
2 Musakanda
3 Ervine
4 Bt
5 Willo
6 Wes
7 Raza
8 Don
9 Jarvis
10 Blessing
11 Chatara (?) I want to see how he holds up

I'm alos seriously considering Wes up top. Although he reminds me a lot of Wills and Taibu in batting style

Another school of thought is Ervine open. He needs time to see it.

This obsession with batting middle order has to stop. Nowadays the most damaging batsmen open. Maximises value and takes advantage of power plays
Imagine if David Warner decided he was a number 5. You'd lol

Ervine for me is better of batting at 5 than any other position. He started batting in the middle order and averaged close to 40 in ODIs. Now he is just above 30 uptop because he is not the best player of pace.

Coaches reacting to Madhever's debut earlier this year:

Johnson Marumisa:
“His work ethic reminds me a lot of Andy Flower,” Marumisa told IndependentSport this week. “He is a prodigious talent, and as a nation we really must feel very excited about him. He doesn’t stop working. When I coached this kid at Churchill, I had never felt so challenged as a coach. He was hungry for knowledge. When a youngster shows that kind of attitude to you as a coach, you naturally respond positively, keen to pass on all the stuff you have to this youngster.”
Stephen Mangongo:
Madhevere has played in three Under-19 World Cups, the first one in 2016 as a 15-year-old under Stephen Mangongo, the development stalwart who first noticed and nurtured his raw talents.

“He is rare quality,” Mangongo said.“He is a three-dimensional youngster: an electric fielder, good offie, and explosive batter all in one. Also, we have to realise that he has been a beneficiary of the South African Schools system, where he has been on scholarship for the last four years in Pietermaritzburg.”

Madhevere attended St Charles College in KwaZulu-Natal on bursary after being spotted playing for Churchill.
Good to see MAngongo not claiming credit and highlighting the stint in SA.

Him being in SA explains a lot.

What is the benefit of his South African school?
Import a kid and develop him for another country?

1. PJ Moor
2. Dion Myers
3. Ervine
4. Taylor
5. Williams (C)
6. Madhevere
7. Burl
8. Chisoro (despite his fielding ik)
9. Jarvis
10. Muzarabani
11. Chatara

12. Shumba or Mavuta

I'm not completely in the loop regarding the Dion Myers and PJ Moor situations but you said ideal XI so just gonna go with that, would love to see Murray but looks like that ship has sailed.

I would prefer Burl up top but can use him and Williams as free roamers up and down the order considering the situaiton, and would love to see Dion Myers become the long term opener alongside PJ if he can get his numbers up.
