I respect Elton for realizing there are many people who can play that number 7 role and that he was most likely blocking a youngster’s path into the team. I don’t know why Chamu can’t see that and being captain makes it even worse. Hami should do Us a favor and offer Chamu an office job so that he gets out the team. Chamu doesn’t even make our squad on merit. It’s time to give the likes of Tari and Burl a solid run at the top

Why didn't he do this in 2016?

In 2016 he had already gone 12 months without a score of note in the team.

Is that how it is in Zim? You need 5 years of bad scores to finally realise times up?

Guess that means Chamu is approaching his final year on the plus side, since it was 4 years since he made a half century.

I really do hope some of the kids in the NPL are given a chance to play FC.
There was a lot of dead rope last year in the Logan Cup and for the first time in a while there seems to be a bit of young blood knocking about.

The selectors should be the ones telling these blokes they’re done & that they won’t be selected for the future. I’ll never blame a player for continuing to put his hand up for selection, after all you’re a long time retired so I don’t blame these guys for wanting to get every last bit out of their careers.

That is true. We hate on players for being there when the selectors selected them. Happens too often.

In reality Chamu + every player in their thirties not in the national team at present should be tapped to say they are done or this season is their last as paid players.

That will still leave 8 or so players in their thirties in the system, but will get rid of ten.

No idea! It's probably the same situation as last year - ZC have no money left, and they are waiting for the next ICC handout to enable them to start. They told me they never know exactly when the next handout will be arriving, so they can't plan ahead.
