I'm sure the whole Covid thing changed his plans. I heard he went up to Northern Australia instead. It would have been awesome to have had him for the season.

Last night we said goodbye to our eldest nephew ~Elder Jayden Goodwin~ as he set of on his 2 year mission first serving in WA until the borders open and then in Zimbabwe. What a great example he has set for my kids and the rest of the cousins in the Standley family. We are so proud of you jaydey boy. We love you lots and will be greatly missed. See you in 2 years xx

Your guess is as good as mine. I find it hard to belive he won't be picking up a cricket bat for two years, but you never know.
What religion has an Elder? I would have assumed Younger?

I am always somewhat nonplussed when a batsman looks skywards, blesses himself or kneels and kisses the ground when they make 100. Is their God on that given day paying more attention than the opposition's?
What conversation takes place when he gets a string of single figure scores?

In the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormonism, an elder is a male member aged 20 or over. This church makes no distinctions between a layperson and a priest. At age 12, all worthy Mormon males become deacons; and before the age of 20 they become priests.

two years
Mormon missions, in which young men and women generally spend two years or 18 months, respectively, in a location determined by the church (often abroad), proselytizing and engaged in humanitarian, community and church service, are a rite of passage for many of the faith.

There’s been a lot of famous athletes in Australia sho have done similar.
Jordan Rapana and William Hopoate off the top of my head. The latter walked away from a pending million dollar deal to do it.

Is Murray Goodwin a Mormon?
I didn’t think Mormonism had much presence in white Zimbabwe.

They are a fascinating group these mormons.
I’ll give them credit that they are principalled and live clean lives.

Hitchens didn't think too much of the Mormons, not that he spared any religion.

Mormons are hard-working and reliable. I always hire Mormons if given the chance.

I need to qualify my previous statement. Hitchens didn't think much of Smith, the founder. Devout people are always good.

Hitchens would have likely been destroyed by Sam Harris on topics of religion.

Hitchens had more knowledge and oratory and debating skills in his baby finger than Harris. Incomparable.
Even if Hitchens had two bottles of vodka in his belly (a regular occurrence) Harris would still let Hitchens take centre stage. They were on the same side anyway.
