Nick Welch? Does he always play LC or is this his first time playing in ZIM domestics since he debuted several seasons back? Any chance of him turning up for ZIM national team in the near future?

Looks like at least 1 white guy per squad and about 7-8 white guys in total (Taylor, Williams, Ervine, Burl, Moor, Evans, Welch). Not too shabby.

Myers and Welch for the goats, I'm getting mildly excited, even if Welch is out for now. Take out these two and the Manicas are left with two solid Logan Cup bats plus the Don.

Title contenders they are definitely not.

Walter matau?
Tanya Kagumba ?

These names never cease to amaze.

Tanya. Bloody hell.

Are there any notable omissions?
I see no jarvis but easily could be injury.
As I have said before, Jarvis looks like he is leaving the game.

And as I said before, I really hope he see’s it through until the next WC campaign. The next two years should be exciting once corona is removed.
It’s a natural finish for him.
33, a World Cup (or a campaign). And some good cricket leading up to it

I think I’m somewhat well poised to answer this question.

This is how it is;
Nick would happily play for Zim.
But he was burnt massively missing out on the 19 WC after being the 1st/2nd best bat. And the only player with FC experience.
Caused him to leave and seek it elsewhere.
He’s copped hell from English kids but has made it and obtained citizenship. This was very very hard to do.

So now we are in a situation where he has an outside hot of playing for England and being a millionaire.
If he goes well, he’s in their crosshairs and will take that.

If he plays bad then yeah Zim all the way.

But then you have this flip of power.
If he is shit, will Zim want him unless he is on his knees?
If he is good, wouldn’t the British setup pull the stops to keep him?

So basically there’s a small middle ground there where we everyone is happy. He’s a competent game changer that isn’t wanted or pursued by the UK.

Basically the BT/Ervine level.

I’ll reiterate,
ZC missed a MASSIVE trick by not looking after him when he was a teen that only ever wanted to live in and play for Zim. Massive.

The advantage is he has a fairly Zimbabwe patriotic family despite the shit with the kids.

Will Curran play for Zim and honour his dad?
That’s the real question.

Well for the first time in quiet some time I’m really looking forward to seeing how the Logan Cup pans out.
It’s just nice to see some former under 19’s in there, keeping the older generation on their toes, even at domestic level.
Interesting that Luke Oldknow hasn’t made any sides or Taun Harrison.

Glad Odendaal has made a side as he looked pretty useful on the videos I saw of him. Even if he’s just a good FC player, it’s nice to have some depth around the squads.

Brad Evans is the big name for me. Bit of pace and hopefully somebody who can push for a T20 spot.
