Re: [Match Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe: 4th ODI
i would leave the same team except drop chibabha seeing as he has done nothing and bring in chigumbura or butterworth , sean williams would be really handy to have in the squad at the moment but we will have to deal with what we have. ervine has grown on this tour and played spin much better he just needs to be backed up by the top order and take some pressure off his shoulders. taylor needs to make a big one and stop getting starts hes a much better player that what his stats are showing . utseya has been our best player all tour and is doing himself proud and proving the doubters wronfg and for that i take my hat off for him. mpofu is doing a steady job as well . every tour theres something not firing in south africa is was the bowlers , thats fine now but now oits the batting , so frustrating. this would be my starting 11 for the 4th odi
BAT
1.B.Taylor
2.T.Taibu (wk)
3.H.Masakadza
4.R.Chakabva
5.C.Ervine
6.R.Butterworth
7.P.Utseya
8.G.Cremer
9.S.Masakadza
10.R.Price
11.C.Mpofu
i put taibu at the top to try somehting different because its just not working atm and to stop him from playing his little sweep shots which are so stupid hopefully this way he will knuckle down and out a price on his wicket and use his experience to show the middle order what to do .

Grant Flower, Price, Chigumbura and Mangongo have spoken about keeping the series alive, by "giving more respect" to Razzak and playing him out without giving him wickets. This indicates that we may be going into our shells further. Not sure if this is a good idea. The talks also indicate better managing the situation through floating the left handed batsmen. Notice the plural there, Dabengwa seems to be a certainty. Chigumbura though, is still not 100% fit, but a call would be taken on the morning.

Why are we showing these Bangladeshi spinners so much respect? Yes they are good, but they are hardly Shane Warne or Murali.

Price was a firm favourite with the Dhakafans who fell in love with his competitive spirit and his dance with paceman Chris Mpofu every time a wicket fell.
He said there was nothing special about their dance, which was just an expression of their happiness to play the game and try and win matches for their country.
"We just trying to enjoy ourselves," said Price.
"When we play cricket, we look to enjoy ourselves always. You have to enjoy your job. Me and Mpofu have a very good relationship.
"We first saw the Kenyans (dance) and we thought we would try to do one and we now have our own."

Re: [Match Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe: 4th ODI
Team for 4th ODI:
1. Brendan Taylor
2. Hamilton Masakadza
3. Regis Chakabva
4. Tatenda Taibu (WK)
5. Craig Ervine
6. Prosper Utseya (C)
7. Ryan Butterworth
8. Graeme Cremer
9. Shingirai Masakadza
10. Raymond Price
11. Christopher Mpofu
Justice Chibhabha (12th men)
Zimbabwe should open with Taylor-H Masakadza who has been very successful building a solid foundation at the top off late.
Chakabva at 3, he did well in this spot in the 1st and 2nd ODI.
Taibu at 4 for me, needs to get runs under his belt.
Ervine at 5.
I will promote Utseya up the order at 6. He is revoulation in the batting era in this series.
It's high time Ryan Butterwoth needed to get a look in and I put him in between Utseya and Cremer, at 7 to take the full advantage of slog overs and in the batting powerplay with his big hitting ability.
And the tails Cremer, S Masakadza, Price and Mpofu are respectively at no 8, 9, 10 and 11.
S Masakadza has impressed me. He's got good pace and looks to be a bright prospect.
Cremer is indeed unfortunate not to get into the wickets column in the 3rd ODI but he turned the bowl very much.

Re: [Match Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe: 4th ODI
as far as Razzak goes, he's going at just 2.89 runs per over this series...so its not as if he's gotten his wickets from batsman trying to belt him to all corners. its true attacking spinners will set them off their lines, and razzak is a prime candidate to get the treatment because he bowls upwards of half his spell in the powerplay. however, there is risk with that strategy: the batsman must read the flight and length of the delivery to do so safely. razzak is no vettori, but the fact that he averages under 10 in his last 8 games against Zimbabwe, indicates that its easier said than done. cricket is, as are all sports, a mental game, but at the end of the day its whats there physically that counts most. having said all that, razzak needs 3 more wickets to set the record for a 5-game bilateral series which is currently held jointly by himself, Mendis, and your own Graeme Cremer.eugene wrote:Why are we showing these Bangladeshi spinners so much respect? as for Shakib, he is, after Vettori, the next best containment bowler in ODIs amongst the more penetrative ODI spinners (http://www.espncricinfo.com/magazine/co ... 78473.html), and he's been below average this series, so whatever "respect" he gets is well earned.
playing spin is not easy, especially on wickets that might assist them. the spinner need not be named Murali or Warne. Price and Utseya have done fairly well bowling economically. spinners have to be milked for singles in the middle overs and can't be hammered for a boundary every over.
Look at Harbhajan. A test average of 31 or so after 350+ wickets or whatever it is is class, right? But he averages 50+ against Sri Lanka, 50+ against Pakistan, and 48 against bangladesh. Meaning he really beats up on the other teams, all of whom have at least 2-3 otherwise world-class batsman who struggle against spin bowling.

Re: [Match Thread] Bangladesh v Zimbabwe: 4th ODI
Seriously doesn't anyone think that Craig Ervine deserves to be promoted up the order, i mean he has been the best looking player against the spinners this eries for the most part. Make him no 3 or even open with Taylor. The sooner he is in the stability he brings might help prevent a collapse with the rest of the middle order, Ahem Taibu......
