I see ZC have issued a statement.
Something must be going on in the background.

Why do thry care so much what Coltart thinks?
Because he is white and they want to shift focus on race again?

Coltart's negative involvement has been a thorn in ZC's side going back to the Black Armband saga. What a mistake that was.
Then he was heavily involved in the attempted ZC coup.
Close friends with Heath Streak.
He's one of two white politicians, but he's a Byo boy and there is a big rift between the Ndebele and the Shona.
He has a big following as well, but despised by ZC and Zanu.
He's actively involved in Human Rights and his son more so.

ZC's statement is well timed. Theyre not just randomly firing.
Im betting SRC is squared away and theyre ready for battle.

Black or White, everyone has been subjected to ZCs poor management. This has led to the underdevelopment that we have seen over the past 25 years. Because now, the black boys and the white boys are all below international standards.

Had ZC been well run, a lot of kids would have found it lucrative to play cricket after school. That would have strengthened our grassroots and domestic scene. With Stiff competition and talent retention we’d be spewing out a good standard of players by now. The likes of Burl would be less lazy, the Wes’ wouldn’t get so many unwarranted chances.

Ultimately, ZC is to blame for just being disorganised than for the racial issue imo. Well yes, maybe because there just aren’t enough white boys in the system to really ascertain if there’s any race problem. But then again, ZC is probably the reason there aren’t many.

We just haven’t assembled 10-15 white boys knocking on the door at the same time in the past 20 years and probably in the last 2 years for the first time can we really say we have 5 or so on the fringes.

From Twitter, I was pleasantly surprised to see 100% of commentators not falling for it, a lot of ‘I stand with Coltart’ type messages.
Think ZC are in for a rude shock, the old race card tactic isn’t working on this new generation

The issue is how Coltart responds because I think he's obliged to. ZC have improved, still way off the mark, but there has been improvement. Theyre doing enuf to give the appearance that things are ok, but everyone knows that its a facade. Maybe ZC genuinely think theyre doing the best job possible and they're not obliged to do more?

Theyre asking him to show current bias and that one game and the result has essentially given them ammunition.
As much as our batters capitulated the bigger issue was the bowling- 600/3 in double quick time was always going to be a huge defeat. Had we got 400 in the first innings and 200 in the second, which most would have been pretty happy with, we'd still have lost by an innings, but nobody is talking about that.
Blame is such a shit word. There's not two teams within a team. The players all want to do well, but there's no doubt there are some that are more determined than others. There's a lot of anxiety and self doubt and pressure. If man for man you've got less skill than your opposition that's understandable, but if you fight and do the little things right cricket is a funny old game.

I've said before, this played into their hands, there's absolutely no reason to revisit their white ball ball selection because thankfully whites and blacks are equally bad. I'm just telling you the relief was palpable. It's just a never ending cycle of blame and finger pointing and tit for tat.

Salamander has left himself open for some abuse by stating some players were out for themselves. What he perhaps should have said is some didnt apply themselves, or capitulated too easily or dont know how to deal with relentless pressure. I favor the last.
You cant really be out for yourself if youre getting pumped. The only onfield scenario I can think of is if you slow down for a landmark and it costs the team the game. Blessing could have been smarter and given Welchie a shot at a 50 or more since he was starting to look comfortable
and playing well and desperately needed the runs. It would have benefitted the team going forward actually. We are in such a poor frame of mind if we can get one more batsman to believe it would have been a massive bonus.

If he was referring to being out for yourself off-field then yes I can think of a few instances.

Whether Coltart responds publicly or not remains to be seen.
Continuously calling him the leader of the Rhodesian Cabal is just not acceptable. What is a response going to change, that's the question?
The likelihood is almost zero, it will worsen animosities, so it begs the question why ZC have issued the statement.
There's 3 possibilities-
1. they think they can shut him up with facts or coercion.
2. The racial thing keeps them firmly in the saddle.
3. Theyre feeling some pressure, but that's ego. Dicators need to be loved.

I will bet the SrC and the Minister are on board with ZC, they would not have spoken without this in the bank. Nothing is ever what it first appears.

My thoughts on the petition sent to SRC

Ps. I don’t have any horse in this race. I just speak my mind all the time. I know some will agree and others will not and such is life.

Well written. I agree that while ZC is rotten, this petition isn't helping with its inaccuracies.
