Melbourne Renegades call up Solomon Mire

MELBOURNE Renegades have given a chance of a lifetime to Essendon batsman Solomon Mire.

The former Zimbabwe under-19 representative had been the Big Bash club's community rookie until he was promoted this morning after an injury sidelined Daniel Harris.

Mire, 24, has impressed in Premier Cricket, making the team of the season last summer.

But it was his blistering century off 53 balls in a trial game in Ballarat on Sunday that sealed his elevation.

It's not the only change for the Renegades, who have elevated supplementary players Jake Reed and Andrew Fekete in place of fellow pacemen James Pattinson and Matthew Gale.

Gale, who is recovering from a knee injury, is hopeful of a return midway through the competition.

Test paceman Pattinson is on track for a return as early as the club's first home game on December 30.

Pattinson, Gale and Harris can return to the squad as soon as they are fit.
Good luck to him!

Good on him hope he does well and plays a few matches ....

Would walk straight into the national team in all formats, doubt we will ever see him in the Zimbo colours but ......

Great to see Mire doing well. I doubt we will see him again in Zimbabwean colours.

At least the Aussies are not as one-eyed as the English! They are conscious that "other" players exists in Zim too.

It's all coming together now. Great stuff from these boys! Given a chance in the right conditions they are as good as any player Zim can produce.

No way Mire, Kasteni, Mugava&Cephas would spurn a WC call up!

15 man squad for the T20 World Cup:
XI - kasuza, mire, kasteni, chakabva, zhuwao, chigumbura(c), mutumbami(wk), panyangara, mushangwe, vitori, chatara
Reserves - chari(bt), mugava(sp), sauramba(wk), mpofu(sm)

I remain convinced that Chigumbura, Panyangara&Mpofu would never turn their backs on the national side if they come knocking!

Tino, Hami, Taylor, Waller, Utseya, Williams, Shingi etc adios! :D

He hasn't made the 13 man squad for the game tomorrow.

He scored a century though in the Ballarat Bush Bash. He scored 101 from 53 balls, and remained not out. :)
