You never hear about it because that doesn't fit the narrative that media outlets are required to sell you.
How many white country's ie EU nations had protests to denounce the deaths of unarmed blacks by police in the US? So that means that they are condoning it? Of course not. Most of them are totally unaware.
How many Christians are protesting the attacks on Muslims in CAR and gays in Uganda? It doesnt mean they condone it, it just means they either arent aware or dont feel the same affinity for Muslims as they do for their own. Thats understandable.
As for Danish cartoons here's a little youtube clip from a US based scholar, Nouman Ali Khan

I have a problem with that line of thinking. Ive seen it all too much used as a scapegoat to wash away any responsibility for terrorist activities.Kriterion_BD wrote:You never hear about it because that doesn't fit the narrative that media outlets are required to sell you.
Not saying you are wrong completely however. media definitely looks after jewish interests, for reasons im sure youll know. However I have picked up a line of thinking in that muslims play the victim card when they are wrong but when they antagonize its 'the media'. Im not even talking about the big things, the social problems day to day, disrespect to the wider community etc.
Theres truth to what you say, but be careful how far you take it please.
Really? theres heaps? Everyday my facebook is filled with it. However most of the time only part of the story is shown. Also remember 1/3 the time the cops are black themselves. To be honest I'm more troubled that brutal black violence on white families gets NO media attention. Some of them are so brutal and blatant hate but you don't see any of the same outcry.[/quote]Kriterion_BD wrote: How many white country's ie EU nations had protests to denounce the deaths of unarmed blacks by police in the US? Africa in general is a forgotten hole in terms of news. I think people just assume the place is f****d and stopped paying attention. As bad as that sounds.Kriterion_BD wrote: How many Christians are protesting the attacks on Muslims in CAR and gays in Uganda? Will watch when I get home. BTW I am not condoning the cartoons just drawing the comparison.Kriterion_BD wrote: As for Danish cartoons here's a little youtube clip from a US based scholar, Nouman Ali Khan

I'm not making any of this up. To back myself, I have quite a bit of evidence, if you're interested.ZIMDOGGY wrote:

Here is how the "liberal" media elements handled Reza Aslan, who is himself a very progressive Muslim American. Don Lemon, an openly gay African American, seems to have some prejudiced opinions even when confronted by facts. Same with Alisyn Camerota, who is actually considered "pro Muslim". That just shows how bad the rest of the media is:

The tagline reads "Does Islam promote violence?" Are you fucking kidding me? Can you imagine if an Al Jazeera tagline read "Does Catholicism promote sexual molestation?"
Thats just the tip of the iceburg, Zimdoggy.
Here is one where former US Sectretary of State Colin Powell illustrates is instituionalized Islamophobia ie prejudice against Muslims that is accepted and acceptable, like anti-Semitism was in Europe nearly a century ago. In 2008, there were allegations that Barack Obama was a Muslim and for that reason alone should not be President of the USA. His opposite number at the time, John McCain said, "no, he's not, he's a decent man" implying that a Muslim cannot be a decent person. This not from a radical middle eastern theocracy, but from the USA, the bastion of liberty and progressivism in the World.

And here is a pro-Muslim piece from Keith Olbermann - who if you notice, does not have a job in mainstream media anymore. Coincidence? I'm not so sure...

Heaps of protests in EU nations? Do you have any evidence, because I'm not aware of any, and of course I could just be misinformed. But my gut feeling is white Europeans aren't that concerned with what happens to black Americans in America.Really? theres heaps? Everyday my facebook is filled with it. However most of the time only part of the story is shown. Also remember 1/3 the time the cops are black themselves. To be honest I'm more troubled that brutal black violence on white families gets NO media attention. Some of them are so brutal and blatant hate but you don't see any of the same outcry.
You've actually proven my point quite succinctly yourself. You're more concerned about the rare instances of black on white violence than about the everyday discrimination that happens to African Americans. Did you know that in the US, a black person is 5 times less likely to get a job interview compared to a white person with a criminal background, irrespective of merit and qualifications? You're probably not even aware that that is happening. Why? Because you're [presumably] white. People tend to not criticize members of their own communities. Doesn't make it right, but that is just how the cookie crumbles.

Since my thread has gone way off topic - mostly my fault - I might as well post this here.

This is in my hometown of Nashville, deep in the Bible Belt as they say. White racists playing the victim card. Notice how they pick on a black cameraman with the local news, who is Christian.
Zimdoggy, you're defense of the media/political institutions is unwarranted based on the various youtube clips I've provided. I hope you get a chance to watch them.

Re: Bangladesh Watch 2015-2019
Bangladesh may be forced to field a completely second string pace attack against Zimbabwe next month. Taskin and Rubel are injured and probably won't be fit until the BPL starts in late November. Mashrafee has dengue and is still suffering from thrombocytopenia (low platelet count). I don't know who the next line of seamers would be asides from Mustafiz and Al Amin. Then again we probably would only play 2 in the XI anyways. Could make the series interesting.

Re: Bangladesh Watch 2015-2019
Zimbabwe will be more concerned about your spinners then the seamers ......
Will we see flat batting pitches for the ODI's or slow low turners ??

If thats the case, Bavuma Rabada is correct: Whatmore needs to be fired for making such an elementary mistake. If everyone is fit, seam is now Bangladesh's strength overall. Seamers won the series for us against Pakistan, India, and South Africa on dead pitches. We'd be unplayable I feel on greentops or conditions where the ball swings a lot. That being said looks like Rubel and Taskin will miss out.jaybro wrote:Zimbabwe will be more concerned about your spinners then the seamers ......
My guess is the pitches will be typical BD pitches. Slowish and good to score 300 runs batting first.

Zimbabwe has a major weakness of spin bowling that's why I said they'd be more scared of your spinners ......
Unplayable really??

In the right conditions I think they can be. They have managed to extract a bit from dead "350 pitches" at the World Cup and of course the perennially-dead Bangladesh surfaces. I imagine they could be a handful in England or New Zealand.jaybro wrote:
