It was the party after the 50th question on the Zimbabwe Cricket Photo Quiz, shame that the players quiz team got them all wrong

Significance of this champaigne party? Easy one but very apt for the occassion on two counts.

First, the 100th questn(thanks for correcting Venky). But i am surprised why CAvenger n Train driver didnt answer this?
Second, Eng was on the brink of ignomious 7-0 whitewash never-happened-before record.(Thankfully it was averted).

Eddo Brandes is celebrating in the pic with Paul Strang, Andrew Whittall and Andy Flower after their victory over Eng at Harare in 1997.It was Eng's one of the worst-ever defeats in ODI.

Zimbabwe won by 131 runs
Brandes returned to torment England, taking a hat-trick - Nick Knight, John Crawley and Nasser Hussain - in his five for 28.
Zimbabwe wrapped up a 3-0 series whitewash with their biggest limited overs international victory after their captain Alistair Campbell had made an unbeaten 80.

Andy Flower laid the foundations for victory over the side he was later to coach by rescuing his side from 38 for four with a gutsy 63. England struggled against Paul Strang's leg-spin despite John Crawley's 73

4. Zimbabwe, Bulawayo December 15 1996
Zimbabwe won by two wickets

England suffered their third defeat in four one-day internationals against Zimbabwe after a limp batting performance. They were shot out for 152 by bespectacled seamer John Rennie and Heath Streak, who took three wickets each.

Zimbabwe won by 13 runs

Grant Flower, younger brother of Andy, was Zimbabwe's hero on this Benson and Hedges World Series Cup match, carrying his bat for 84. Despite five wickets from Darren Gough England slumped to successive one-day defeats by Zimbabwe, newcomers to Test cricket, following the World Cup embarrassment in Albury

6. Zimbabwe, Albury March 18 1992
Zimbabwe won by nine runs

England's current coach Andy Flower played in a low-scoring game but it was chicken farmer Eddo Brandes who was Zimbabwe's match-winner in this World Cup game. Seamer Brandes took four for 21 including the wickets of Graham Gooch, Allan Lamb, Robin Smith and Graeme Hick in Zimbabwe‘s first one-day international against England.

7. Sri Lanka, Colombo February 14 1982
Sri Lanka won by three runs
England included Graham Gooch, Ian Botham, David Gower Mike Gatting and Bob Willis but still suffered an embarrassing defeat in the second one-day international between the countries having sneaked a five runs win in the inaugural match 24 hours earlier. England needed 14 off the last two overs but lost four of their last five wickets to run outs.

And Dr.Situ, another addition to the Zim Vs Eng Hall of Fame: The Natwest opening match victory in 2003, where Grant Flower teamed up with Stuey Matsikenyeri to guide us home.

Zim had almost pulled off another victory against SA in the next match, with Friend at no. 3 scoring 80 odd, but batting fell apart later. This made ECB to go for seaming pitches so that they don't have to face the embarrassment of not reaching the final, and almost ended up with egg on their face when Heath Streak used the conditions to perfection to run through their top order in a rain effected match.

Yeah, it was another occassion where Gobby(GF) was more concerned of Zimbabwean win rather than his personal century.(he remained 96 not out).

Talking of NatWest, the first NatWest Series was held in 2000 a year after England hosted the World Cup. The West Indies and Zimbabwe were the two visiting teams, with England and Zimbabwe contesting the first final.

Apart from with and without clothes, is there any other connection between the two pics?

I could only think of this as a connection:

I could not identify the man in the first pic, and Cricinfo failed to identify the man in the middle in the second pic

Could it be something to do with Ahmedabad Rockets ?

Streaky, obviously, played for them, so is the other fella a multi billionaire Bollywood star who owns the Rockets

well if Crimson failed to answer then i dont think any other non-indian will answer this. Actuaaly its not exactly a quiz question i just deliberately cross connected 2 images.

The first person is failed indian actor-Ayub khan who has now turned to Television.. He bears a remarkable simlarity with Guy whittall. Apar from his lookalike there is no other similarity. The below picture is ofcourse from Zim-India ODI series in around 2000.

So i am not counting this as a question and hence not included in "unanswered" as well
