Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team
Terry I've said less people in Zim play cricket, not worldwide. It's fine to get off topic slightly, it's an interesting discussion. Eugene you may well be right, mostly due to us not playing much international cricket and due to poor admin and disastrous selection policies and a poor coaching and p...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team
People also forget that the population 70 years ago was one third what it is now and on top of that didn't get paid, put in 1/10 the practice, were smaller and significantly weaker and a smaller percentage of that population played sport because they had less free time. Never mind the lack of traini...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team
Bradman hit six 6's in 53 tests and no 6's in 238 first class games. You'd have to move the boundary rope in about 50m before he could clear the rope. If you stuck him in a time machine and got him to face an over from Brett Lee he'd do worse than Piers Morgan. Maruma has hit 116 first class sixes....

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team
If Bradman is in the equation then minefield uncovered pitches have to be too. Can’t see Travis Head bossing it on one of them with the ball spitting everywhere. I thought Bradman always played it along the floor anyway so he wouldn’t get caught, must have been looking to declare with those six tes...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team
Our current team would get minced by Flower's team. Bear in mind 230 was a par score back then, but that was a good team. Our best bat in ODI's was probably Goodwin, but there wasn't much in it between him and Flower and Johnson. Goodwin would make our side today at his current age  I don't thi...

Re: 2004 Team v 2024 Team
Another example is boxing. I was reading yesterday that boxing "aficionados" ranked Willie Pep's defensive skills ahead of Pernell Whitaker's. I mean that's a joke.
Same folk think Marciano would beat Frazier and Tyson- I mean they'd literally kill him inside of a round.

And Warne and Murali. Except Murali would have not been allowed to bowl
