Afghanistan in Bangladesh 2023
Liton Das to captain in the one-off Test. Bangladesh has named an otherwise full strength Test squad minus the injured Shakib. No surprise inclusions. Musfik Hasan and Shahadat Hossain earn their maiden call ups. Will be interesting to see if the rain stays away in Dhaka. However temperatures have b...

Re: 2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion
Surprised to see all the comments being positive about the squad. Usually one or two controversial selections is enough to get the forum to pop off. I think its merely a decent squad. Not having Myers over Jongwe is criminal. I'd probably even have taken Chivanga over Jongwe. You can't buy raw pace....

Re: Updated team ranking
Zimbabwe are now ahead of Ireland, Scotland and Netherlands in all three formats. All three teams are neck and neck without much to separate them in all formats. Ireland drew the most recent ODI series 1-1 with Zimbabwe, both at home and away. Netherlands were 1 run away from beating ZIM 2-1 in Zim...

Thanks for the clarity.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sun May 28, 2023 7:27 amProbably the former tbh.
Also they’ll probably only ever play one or two games against those three teams in their entire career anyway sadly.
These guys will most likely have to step up very soon once the Big 3 start retiring. Will definitely be interesting times.

Re: Zimbabwe A vs Pakistan A
All of the youngsters you have mentioned here have talent, and quite a lot of it. Including Shumba and Marumani. Doesn't mean they are in the right form or the right frame of mind or are 'ready' yet. They will obviously pick Wes though still. Do you mean they are talented relative to the alternativ...

Re: Zimbabwe A vs Pakistan A
^ I agree with the eleven. But from your 4 reserves you’ve got 3 bowlers and 1 batter, which might not be enough knowing how often guys like Ervine and Williams get injured. Hard to pick anyone else though. Our batting depth remains very weak. Marumani and Shumba have blown it and Myers will have n...

Re: 2023 World Cup Qualifier discussion
Josh Little being rested from the Lord's Test in order to be fresh for the WCQ. Unfortunate, but at least Ireland are putting an importance on the WCQ even if Netherlands and Scotland aren't or can't.

Re: Zimbabwe A vs Pakistan A
After the qualifiers definitely the time to blood in the likes of Bennet, Welch, and Myers. Unless none of the Big 3 retire. Post-Big 3, those guys defintely need a long run, and to be fair there isn't really an alternative to Madhevere, who at least has some fundemental talent. Forgot about Gumbie....

Re: Zimbabwe A vs Pakistan A
Bennet had a great world cup, i think finished in the top 5. Welch missed a couple of games with Covid, had two unlucky dismissals and had a blinder against Afghanistan, who may have had the best bowling attack in the tournament. He's extremely talented, perhaps the most ability of them all, but in...

Re: Zimbabwe A vs Pakistan A
If Madhevere keeps playing like this one has to consider that it's his ceiling. He has absolutely no learning curve. 3 years and he's a lesser batsman than when he was u19. Madhevere had great bowling stats - but that was because I think he largely bowled against teams like Canada, Nepal, PNG, etc....
