3.5 years seems fair. I hope the big guy can bounce back and contribute to ZimCricket, coaching our impotent batsmen in the future

Re: Talent retention- the way forward

Soccer in UK has different eligibility requirements. In cricket you have to be a citizen, whether by birth or you have a foot in the door and do your time through a process called naturalisation. If you're over 18 it will take a minimum of 7 years, under 18 about 5. Oh, thanks for clearing that up!...

Re: Talent retention- the way forward

I agree, but given the state of the country, that crude grassroots model could be the first place to start.e.g if you can find a 2m plus tall, lanky athletic fellow who can run 100m under 12-13 seconds, you immediately have something to work with. A half decent rugby, cricket (pref bowling) coach ca...

Re: Talent retention- the way forward

The way it works, is that Welch, Curran, etc etc, play for their Counties as 'Local' and England-eligible players. If they suddenly played a senior international game for Zim (or any other country) then they would be ineligible to play for England and would have to be registered as 'Overseas' playe...

Re: Talent retention- the way forward

I guess, to be blunt, ZC needs to put more effort into unearthing talent from poorer communities. It appears with most sports, hunger and desperation are driving forces that can in part make up for low resources. Perhaps this is why Bangladesh has rapidly become a force to reckon with. A bunch of po...

Talent retention- the way forward

With the U19 WC winding down, some/most forumites are anxious about the availability of these kids (at least some of them) for future Chevron teams. We have seen one U19 cohort offer another disappearing to England, some fortunate ones making the cut for county cricket, some playing for obscure club...

Re: Zimbabwe vs ireland playe semi final

Carrot of west indies in final(probably) big crowd and under 19 automatic qualification in 2024. Any changes to squad? Perhaps rest Taruvinga, @ 15yo, hes been punching above his weight facing “U19” bowlers, he has time, will be back for the next 2 WCs. Makoni’s kid currently doesn’t deserve a spot...
