Zimbabwe bowling problems

Post by zimbofan88 »

Not long ago we had a very decent bowling lineup.. I remember we had good fast bowlers and spinners so we won test matches against Pakistan and always looked competitive at home.
I remember in the test matches we had these pairs:

Jarvis
Sw masakadza
Meth
Cremer

Jarvis
Chatara
Vitori
Nyumbu

Triapino
vitori
Chatara
Cremer

The guys like Muzhange, lamb, Mupariwa etc bowled tight in the odis.. Not to forget Prosper was also an economical odi bowler back then..Now We have very ordinary bowlers..The guys such as Panny, Bobby, madziva, Muzarbani won't win us matches.. The combinations of strike bowlers-- Chatara, S Masakadza, Vitori, Tripiano, Cremer would still look pretty solid, but due to injury, lack of forms or players not being available( jarvis, meth etc) we are struggling in most of the games.

Cremer
Madziva
Panyangara
Chatara

I have no issue with Pany in the test side, only the ODI side and I consider Madziva underrated, particular in the longer form of the game

I think beating Waz and co in Pak (by an innings??) was infinitely bigger.

Not saying isn't wasn't, but for me watching Chatara take the last few wickets and sealing victory was more special then reading an old scorecard .....

I agree with you on that. I think I'll always remember where I was and what I was doing as I was watching that match live (or was I just following on cricinfo?). Was outstanding.
