Phil Simmons

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

So we at Zim Cricket have been screwing coaches for over a decade, starting with Phil Simmons. Ireland took him and became a respected side, before moving on and becoming ordinary. WI latched onto him as soon as he became available post his Ireland role and frustrated him and sent him out. Afghanistan saw him becoming available and roped him in right away in an assistant role to current head coach Lalchand Rajput. So, Afghanistan are competing regularly against Ireland on various platforms, facing Zim more often than any other opposition, and are set to play WI in June 2017 in a bilateral seriies as they continue their development. Simmons can help them with inputs about all 3 opposition. If this is not street-smartness by AFG, what is?

Zimbabwe " Clever " think tank has appointed two bowling coaches instead of proper batting coach. Heath Streak, himself his enough for bowling coach role, as he is regarded as one of the best and most demanding among the bowling coaches in the world, after his successful stinct with Bangladesh Cricket.

Ntini on the other hand may be the legend of the game, but it has been a year of his appointment, but he haven't done any wonder for Zimbabwe Cricket as a bowling coach. Its worst decision to keep two bowling coach, instead they should have appointed full time batting consultant, as batting performance are getting down with every match. Zimbabwe should rope in batting coach like Dave Houghton or someone like Murray Goodwin instead of Ntini and Kluesner.

Douglas Hondo is also a failure with Zimbabwe A side.

The last I heard he is still owed a significant amount of money by ZC, as are a number of players- past and present. Our problems will never end whilst we have incompetent untrustworthy people in charge of the money. Whatever the ZC wage bill is, after deducting the money that vanishes, fictitious loan repayments to local banks, the odd ghost worker, its less than the inflows, so they stall payments until the next tranche from the ICC. Just walk into one of the offices that occasionally house ZC senior admin (when they make an appearance at work), they're just lounging around doing zip. It's become the accepted norm. They've chased away local white guys with knowledge of their shenanigans and rely on imports for credibility and who won't question anything or leak information. The list of mistakes they've made, and continue to make is long, yet there's nobody willing to oust them, in fact they've hamstrung people that are capable of doing so. This current administration will never solve our problems, which are fast becoming so insurmountable that no-one else will either. The frustrating part is that you have good people within the system trying to work with what they've got, which is really just acceptance of the state of affairs and gives them a veneer of credibility. This current series against Afghanistan A is a shocking wake up call that we are in the disaster zone. With respect to the Afghans, who are going from strength to strength, we should be beating them, or at least having a competitive game. Instead we are getting our arses kicked so soundly it's humiliating. Forget the excuses about rain hampering our preparations. I'd like to see what preparations were undertaken, we knew they were coming. After three games we can see that Burl can bat and Murray can keep. Wow. He won't be available for the next game because he's gone to university.
As a full member nation we don't have the equipment or facilities to prepare for an incoming tour, and we're getting trounced by a country that doesn't either. Where's the Afghan main side? I believe they are preparing in Dubai, what are our guys doing? Stand by for the next chapter when they arrive.

Funny, ZC official handle tweeted about Phil Simmons back in Zim with Afghan team. Don't think he will enjoy the stay as such, given all the money owed and the bitter battle that has gone on since. He might enjoy some good time with the friends he made, like Rainsford and co.
