Once Zimbabwe Cricket used to have lot of home matches, strong teams use to visit regularly in 90s. Board had the reasonable earnings for improvement but they did'nt paid any attention.

A little rainfall is enough to abandon an exciting game and if it happens in middle of the innings and stops then luck factor comes, side which bat first seats with all advantage. Zimbabwe had such luck against the West Indies in recently held Tri Nation Sereis 2016 where the game went in Zimbanwe's favour and now against Afghanistan they have been in the receving end. Neither the opponents nor the groundsman can be blamed, a little wet area can cause a massive damage to a player. Supper Soppers are generally used to dry the wet area quickly, ZC now under burden of debts, paying thd players with ICC Development Funds, so they can't afford such machines, but once they had reasonable amounts which they used in filling their own pockets, instead of developments.

It seems now Zimbabwe going to get more hurt when they loose from winning situation due to rains. And, if rains interferes in their games that might result loss in confidence ,unless ZC comes up with some development plans.

Investing in drainage at HSC is a waste of money. So few international games in Zimbabwe are rain affected.
If anything we need some rain assistance in Test cricket because we have yet to secure a draw since returning in 2011.

We could put water jets on the light towers and hit turbo when it looks like we're about to lose.
I've never noticed poor drainage, when it rains here it chucks it down, you'd need some fancy underground stuff to deal with that. The real issue is usually the late start. If they got going at 8am there wouldn't be a problem. We live in the tropics and the average summer storm kicks off around 3.30pm. It's not rocket science.

Weather issues are unfortunately part of the game. Is this the rainy season in Zim? BD has been playing during the monsoon season lately becauase other sides are too nusy to tour us. ODIs were virtually unaffected, moat games went 100 overs a few saw 10 or 15 overs lost. We did get 2 draws vs India and South Africa courtesy of rain, although we possibly could have saved the India match without rain as well.

Scheduling is the biggest issue here. Of course you also want good drainage. But no country is as bad as Ireland. I cant recall of they have ever hosted an uninterrupted match before.

KKSC has decent drainage, on the square at least. But when the water table is so high what can you expect?
