Whilst this is good news, I don't like the tweet.

"He apologised"...seems to me like they are enforcing themselves on their players and trying to make a point that no matter who you are and what we have done, ZC are always right.

No need to be dragging your best player under the mud like that.
interesting insights from the cricbuzz article..

Zimbabwe batsman Sikandar Raza has been recalled for national duty for their upcoming overseas tour to Bangladesh after the 32-year-old sorted out the contractual issues with Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) on Monday (September 24).

The right-hander had played club cricket in England without obtaining a No Objection Certificate (NOC), and then on being denied the same ahead of the inaugural Gloal T20 Canada, Raza had gone ahead to unilaterally terminate his national contract. Understandably, ZC raised concerns before deciding to not renew his central contract, earlier this month. Subsequently, he had been omitted from the squads for the upcoming tours to South Africa and Bangladesh.

However, on Monday, Raza sat in a meeting with ZC's contracts committee and apologised for his actions, while reassuring them of his commitment to play for the national cricket team. Following a smooth meeting between both parties, the selectors eventually decided to include him for the Bangladesh tour, where Zimbabwe will play three ODIs and two Tests. However, it has been confirmed that Raza will not play the limited-overs series (3 ODIs and 2 T20Is) in South Africa, starting September 30.

"I am extremely delighted with the news and thanks to ZC who quickly sorted out my issues. I just want to put this behind me and concentrate on and enjoy my cricket," Raza said. Earlier this month, Raza had taken to Twitter to express his disappointment at not being handed a central contract and labelled all the blame on acting managing director of ZC, Givemore Makoni. ZC then, via a media release, walked away from its policy of not "discussing employee issues in the media" and confirmed that it was not a decision taken by the acting MD and rather solely decided by the board's Contracts Committee. The board also reminded Raza of Makoni's influence on his career when the latter, who was at the helm at Southern Rocks, had allowed the right-hander to play for them. He had also supported Raza's move to get the Zimbabwean citizenship.

Makoni now has welcomed Raza's return to national duties. "We are pleased to have found common ground with Sikandar, who is is one of our best players. We welcome him back to the national team set-up and we hope he will contribute immensely in Bangladesh and in future tours," he said.

Kind of exactly what I mean actually.

ZC are basically saying, 'remember what we did for you, you owe us and not the other way around'. By also saying he apologised publicly and emphasising it, it kind of diminishes him as a player and individual. That no matter what anyone does, the board is always going to be superior to you, regardless of what you do.

If he apologised an, Makoni helped him get citizenship, then so be it, but don't use those things as leverage and air it publicly. He apologised, all well and good, no need to air it. Just say that the two sat down and came to an amicable decision and now will move forward with zim cricket at heart.

As for the citizenship and all that. So you helped him, but that does not mean he is always in debt to you. You treat him and hid fellow players like dirt. Unpaid salaries whilst you buy new cars and lavishly treat yourself. It does not work that way.

sadly in zim thats the modus operandi.. somehow someone has a 'sextape' on you or some leverage that they hold over you.. here it was just a case of the powers that be flexing their muscles to raza and reminding him of where he came from.. you will forever be indebted to someone and it just goes on and on

Plain ans simple, great to see Raza back in zimbanwean colors. I hope ZC secure some fixtures for Zimbabwe during the 3 month gap that tbey have after bangladesh tour.

I think they only play India in March next yr and then.play Ireland in June when others will be playing the WC.

Great to see. Well done to the new minister of sport @KirstyCoventry for asking the question.

interesting to see that there was some bit of horse trading behind the scenes..

Yup when the Minister can’t wade right in and start lashing left and right you know this a deep rooted sensitive topic. She should at least have the power to get that constitution changed.
