Zimbabwe T20 squad
Re: Zimbabwe T20 squad
Extremely tough job for the selectors after this Series.
I'd say these guys have stamped names in the T20XI even though I feel some are not suited:
1.Taylor*
2.Chakabva
3.Williams*
4.[Maruma]
5.[Chigumbura]
6.Mutombodzi
7.Mutumbami(wk)
8.Madziva
9.Ndlovu
10.[Chatara]
11.Mpofu
I think Elton will go straight into the XI as soon as he recovers. With Masakadza gone, they will feel Maruma deserves a run. Beyond that it will be very tricky.
Craig Ervine played well for ZIM in T20s beforethis tour but was dropped. Of those who remained, for survival BT ensured he keeps the gloves and Sean could lay claim to the fact that he was bowling, same with Burl.
Chatara looks fit so I'm not sure if injury as kept him away. But Jarvis has struggled up front so I can see him missing out because Mpofu and Madziva have simply been brilliant(not sure why Hami didn't bowl Madziva more and commentator all wondering the same).
I suspect they'll take the gloves away from Taylor and give him another Series after this one, then it will be a stright shootout between Williams and Mutombodzi for who will sit out for Raza.
A sad state of affairs because a long list of Chari, Musakanda, Kamunhukamwe, Kasuza etc are all waiting in the wings.
SIngapore-Nepal will make things very interesting. Chari(and Wellington) will no doubt do well, so pressure on Taylor for that opening spot. Moor is another one who will likely play up top to cause more headaches. Elton not part of that squad, so Burl has another chance to show some consistency. Chatara and Craig are there to guide the young bowlers and batsmen, but with Mashinge, Ngarava and Jakiel on that tour, bowling competition will be very stiff after that.
I honestly don't know how the XI next week Friday against Nepal on the 27th will look like. But if I was Craig and Moor I would opt to miss that one. They are no pushovers.
Voice of reason.
