I always dream of seeing an ODI played in Zimbabwe under lights. Those who live in Zim may be knowing the reason why flood lights are not introduced to stadiums in Zimbabwe. All the test playing nations have flood lit stadiums now a days and Zim too need to have one.
Any idea about this?

Re: Flood Lights in Harare
There are plans for floodlighting at HSC - Alastair Campbell mentioned them in passing while commentating a while back.
The biggest problem with floodlighting in Zim is lack of power - ZC would need to make damn sure they had plenty of backup generation capability at HSC before they committed to staging any matches under lights. Relying on ZESA, the electric company, wouldn't be a very good idea.

They should make sure they can get the required power in order for floodlights to be used at the HSC. It'd be such a spectacle for all those Zimbabweans who've never seen a floodlit game. We need to get with the timesmaehara wrote:There are plans for floodlighting at HSC - Alastair Campbell mentioned them in passing while commentating a while back.

as much as i want to see them aswell,i don't think that will happen because of the neighbour he turned that down a long time ago i doubt is his changed his thinking now thats the same reason you haven't got any stands at side because again the neighbour said no people are going to look into my yard.
i doubt if we get floodlights unless the neighbour moves

I guess its a case of location. The presidents house is just next to the ground, I hope its possible though to have them available but think about the hustle of getting into Harare Sports Club at night. There is one public entrance which has decent traffic during the day. when the state road is closed off at 6pm all traffic is channeled in one lane...imagine that. you'll only make it into the venue at the last ball lol

Have a nosy on Google Earth sometime. HSC and State House may be next-door properties to each other, but there's a good bit of distance between the actual facilities - the pavillion, a helipad, and some other unused land. I doubt Bob would even notice there was a match going on.
And hey, even if he could, HSC could sell that extra lighting as an added security feature.

very good post,
i was about to start the same topic.
It would be a solid investment by whoever in charge as peeps can come to the cricket after work, or if your a party animal like me or brendan taylor- dont have to get up at 8 am to watch the games.
It would pay itself off + profit within 12 months.

Its a shame that rufaro or the national couldnt be used. I know not the traditional home of H-town cricket but still...imagine us beating australia in a world cup final under lights!!
