Yup! I think the format is going to be the same. They won't have a sudden death Semi Finals. Super 6 with the top 2 basically going to the WC. Winning the final will just be an icing on the cake.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Tue Nov 08, 2022 8:42 pmZIM hosted the last Qualifier and it was also 10 teams. So shouldn't be a problem this time around. Although I think some of the teams may have complained about poor facilities for training and or accomodation (???).
I am sure its going to be 10 teams split into two groups of 5, so every team plays 4 games, and then probably a Super 6 stage of probably 3 more games for each team with the top 2 going to the final and qualifying. It will probably be the same format as 2018.
Yeah its going to be a cutthroat tourney. Lots of quality teams unlike the last time where it was just WI, AFG, ZIM, and IRE plus 6 teams to just make up the numbers.

I watched the Afghanistan game somehow, unless I'm getting confused with games.jaybro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 10:14 am
Only the Super 6 games (plus two Windies group games)
I remember furiously refreshing my phone for Twitter updates from Merna Cremer during both the Afghanistan & Scotland thrillers.
I can’t ever remember enjoying supporting Zimbabwe more than during that tournament. Playing matches that actually meant something at home in front of full crowds, it really was a great time.

What you must have seen is ..single camera 1-2 minutes highlights that ICC released after the game . I clearly remember having to refresh my cricbuzz page in that thrillerzimbos_05 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 10:44 pmI watched the Afghanistan game somehow, unless I'm getting confused with games.jaybro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 10:14 am

Yeah I think you’re either mixing it up with another game or as tej said, you’re thinking about the highlights someone filmed on their smart phonezimbos_05 wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 10:44 pmjaybro wrote: ↑Wed Nov 09, 2022 10:14 am

ZCF was reliant on Graeme Cremer's wife's tweets during the nail biters vs Scotland and Afghanistan. I think only Super 6 stage and beyond was televised. However, I do think the next tourney will have all games streamed, with the Super 6 stage and beyond getting a proper broadcast.

So Reggie is based in Australia and will be playing club cricket and coaching here. Will be taking a break from Zim domestic.
Even though he said he is still available for the national team, surely that means he can't be selected for the National team if ZC wants to do the whole "gotta play in Zim to be eligble".
Which would mean we need to start identifying a new keeper now for the qualifiers.

Re: Focus ODIs: the 2023 World Cup
Can anyone confirm if the ICC has announced direct qualification for Zimbabwe and South Africa for the 2027 ODI WC?

Yes. Cricinfo had an article yesterday saying ZIM and SA qualify automatically as hosts.
