Re: Where to from here?
Chatara was a solid serviceable seamer. His numbers aren’t shabby by any means. But he’s past his prime and at 32 it’s time to start looking beyond him. That doesn’t mean he needs to retire asap or that ZIM need to drop him. But he can’t be relied upon like he was a few years ago.

Re: Where to from here?
Hi All,.
Have you noticed one thing in the qualifiers.
All those matche where we have lost , we are having. Multiple balls to play.
There were no pressure for limited deliveries. We already have to complet less run and deliveries are more.
What we have done mistake is, we did not learn from defect agains Sri Lanka match. Same mistake we have done against Scotland.
We have to play as per situation. All our batters are in hurry. We have to avoid tuff deliveries .
Raza, Williams ,burl, arvine , gumbi, madhvere all did same mistake. Instead they have to stay on pitch and play according to situation.
They don't play with proper planing. We have been since 25 years in the cricket.
I don't see anything good in gumbi, kaiya or not even in wesly mdhwere.
20 0r 30 are not good score always. They have to learn, improve and play for 100 once in 5 innings.
Are you all agree?

Re: Where to from here?
Zim needs a player like Chanderpaul /Hussey who can handle pressure matches. Garry Ballance would have been a great help in the world cup if he was available. Zim can't think ahead with players like Gumbies, madhevere etc. 2027 world cup is three four years away. Apart from Burl, Muzurbani, Zim need to find other quality 9 players. Burl

Getting jabro's favourite Melton back will solve our problems. Get him in the team!
Neil Johnson, Alistair Campbell, Murray Goodwin, Andy Flower (w), Grant Flower, Dave Houghton, Guy Whittall, Heath Streak (c), Andy Blignaut, Ray Price, Eddo Brandes
Re: Where to from here?
If ever this thread needed a bump and this question had to be asked, it is now.
What do they do in the short term? We can fire Dave but is there any reputed coach who would like to get into this mess? Dave Whatmore once did and he regretted it.
Do they invest in Bennett, Matt Welch, Campbell?
Will they look beyond a players colour and be willing to select the team purely on merit?
Will they get desperate and fast track players like Antum Naqvi?
Will we see the retirements of Williams, Ervine and Chatara?
This is definitely the Nadir. Where do Zimbabwe go from here?

Straight to the bottom of a bottle of black label from here.
The absolute nadir. 50 over qualifier you could take it I guess, there was always this one to change our fortunes. Now what though…?
They’ll never look beyond the race thing. Investing in any murungu will only happen should the current murungus retire and open some slots up. Realistically there’ll be Ervine and Williams’ slots but it’s dead man’s shoes. These young gun murungus going to stick around waiting for that chance or move on to bigger and better things?!
Select a team on merit
not happening ever in the next hundred years.
They look to be betting a lot on old Knackers, or Zubz has been paying for him to play in every possible game. Either way there is no doubting the kid’s potential although there are big question marks whether he can cut the mustard. He’s less of a saviour than Gazza Ballance was (or could have been, I suppose). He’s a bargain basement Raz Dawg at this stage of his career.
Someone said Ervine will fancy the England game but that’s a year and a half away so we’ll see. Williams seemed hungry to continue back in the winter but we’ll see after this debacle. Larry should retire, he’s been good on his day but those days never come now.

Re: Where to from here?
I’d want Wellington masakadza coming in at six fully investigated and explained
what on earth was that decision?!

Re: Where to from here?
Yeah that's a fair assessment mate! We are all hurting, and seriously we don't have a clue of what happens next!?Pat_Bee wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2023 1:32 pmStraight to the bottom of a bottle of black label from here.

You are spot on, ODI qualifiers was not that tough we had this one to fall back on like many others... Now though we are in shambles... I mean absolute nadir.

Re: Where to from here?
I mean at least our performances in the odi wc qualifiers were a big plus. We won all our group games, won against oman and then after we lost against sri lanka, we let the pressure get to us. This one is just shambolic. We didn't learn and we let the pressure get to us again.
