Post by 55727835 »

Sources saying Williams may be retiring with Ervine as well. Will keep updated.

In a lot of ways Sean always looked to have the game to be even better at T20 than ODI but somehow never quite mastered the format properly - not sure why.

Still 1691 runs at 23.48/126.38SR is a bigger contribution than almost anyone else so what a servant he has been.

It does feel like the right time to move on from this format. We will need him hugely in the half dozen or so Tests we are scheduled to play in the next year.

……of course it’s Sean so he might change his mind again tomorrow

Is he the last player, from any team, from the first ever World T20 in 2007 to retire from T20I? I don’t think there is anyone else left. Maybe one or two of the Bangladeshi pensioners are still going but that’s about it.

Wait...Sean has retired?
I misread that completely. Thought it was Craig.
Really surprised and disappointed. He's a great player.

Shakib made his T20 debut in the same game as Williams back in 2006.
