Maybe one day they should try open with Welch and move Ben to number 3. I see Ben replacing Craig in the long term. I don't see him opening for too long especially with BT coming back. Add BT and Naqvi to this squad and suddenly the competition for batting spots is extremely tough. You have to find your lane now.
Interesting scorecard. These are the guys who will be playing the 4 tests besides Raza and Blessing so it is interesting to see how they do. I wonder if SA will send a full strength team to Bulawayo. Also that scorecard is the main reason why it was behind closed doors. You can kind of predict their lineup for the final.
Also on Raza. He played a club game over the weekend. How can anyone question his commitment?

It’s bit like that St Aiden.
If you could form partnerships with overseas clubs to finance some of these things and in return you get a pro. Or would go a long way.
I remember Jason Gilispe saying players had 10-15 a day to play. It sounds like a world vision ad. A coffee a day to keep a zim domestic player going

Razz just made the mistake of giving something that can be misquoted. Or more a gotcha comment that anyone can use for why there favourite players isn’t inTapsC2 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 6:44 amMaybe one day they should try open with Welch and move Ben to number 3. The man loves cricket and winning. It’s hard to fault.
Bigger scheme. Clearer pathways need to be advertised to domestic cricket.

Why would you want to move Curran to 3?TapsC2 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 05, 2025 6:44 amMaybe one day they should try open with Welch and move Ben to number 3. I see Ben replacing Craig in the long term. Ya if/when BT and/or Knackers become available that batting line-up is going to be tough to pick.
Will BT want to play red ball?
What will massively strengthen the side is if BT is available to keep. I dont see that happening though. Firstly I doubt he will be too keen to keep and secondly ZC are so desperate for Madande to come good that theyre almost trying to reserve that spot for him.
The one likely casualty there will be Welch, but if they have to find 2 spots then Curran and Ervine are the next in line.
But if they replace Curran then who opens? It would have to be BT.
If BT kept then only one top order guy needs to go.
Obviously there's no guarantee that BT and Knackers will do the job, but for sure theyre going to get plenty of rope.
It looks to me like Craig, Sean, BT and Raza are hanging in there for the 2027 WC. Whilst we need to put our best team on the park they're taking 2 years out of other guys' careers that are potentially good replacements for them. Those are two invaluable years. Craig's rope is getting a bit shorter as well. If Welch or Curran knock out a couple of good scores and Craig fails he will be under pressure.
But then again ZC are capable of multiple curve balls.

BT keeping in tests is wild
he’s too old for those shenanigans
