Logan Cup Round 3 - 17th -20th November

Post by zimfan1 »

Looks like the Pakistan overseas players have arrived for each team.

As has the 41 year old Gareth Cross who last played a first class game in 2014

Lot of Pakistani first class debuts...

To be honest, I think I would have been very critical of that at one point. However, I do think that the guys they got in during the 23/24 season actually added a lot to the competition, even though they were similarly inexperienced. Clearly their skills were indeed a slight notch above the average local player, as their figures attested to (indeed Salman Mirza has gone to play for Pakistan). But they also played with a lot of competitive fire, which I think was very valuable. The local cricket scene can be a bit cozy in my opinion, with the same guys playing amongst themselves at the same grounds, over and over again in club and pro cricket. These guys shook it up a bit, which was handy.

They might as well have stayed at home. More chance of playing at the bottom of a lake currently.

Good pick to see Mirza actually made his FC debut in ZIm. Shows that they have potential

The U19s knocked over a Rhinos team with , Kaitano, Naqvi, Musakanda, Mayavo, Gwandu, Chirwa and 2 imports. Kian Blignaut with another massive score after getting 98 not out against the Eagles I think. Got a feeling he might be given a chance sooner than people think. Similar to how Wes, Bennett and Newman got early opportunities.

If the current generation of "young talents" around the national team are not careful they could find themselves out in the cold permanently for some of the new "young talents" around. Seeing how Bennett has played, I got a feeling they are going to try the same formula a few times and someone might just take their chance.

Well they are clearly both going to get absolutely every opportunity under the sun due to their affiliations so let’s hope they are as good as their recent numbers suggest.

Ya it already has the faint whiff of something.

You'd think with their old man's past relationship with the board that his off spring would be black listed as well 😄
Am I right in assuming Andy and the board are okay?
