8 of the players play at Takashinga and 6 of them also go to Wise Owl School.
That has to be some sort of world record.
All pretence has finally been cast aside.
I think there's a triangular warm up between us, Afghanistan and Pakistan this month?
The Mudenda case is an interesting one, I wonder what went down there? ZC have got this thing about anyone not considering them to be first choice. They pay cents in the dollar compared to places like SA and UK. Are they wanting country patriotism or corporate loyalty?
At the end of the day cricketers have a small window to make some money and that's not even on offer here.
Every country has selection shenanigans, but ZC have honestly taken it to a new extreme.
I would suspect that this u19 team is really going to get badly beaten, but their answer to that is that we always get badly beaten, so what does it matter?
Well it does in that the message needs to be that selections are merit based, but that has not ever been the case. If you want to kill what remains of school cricket this is the way to do it. Even if youre a decent black cricketer you now appear to need to enrol at Wise Owl.
Young Makoni has been in the spotlight as well. I cant get to the bottom of what his stats really are, but as a fact he's not close to being the worst player in that squad. Some posts are saying he averages 38 and others are saying 5? I really havent seen him play so can't comment.
Also he and a few others appear to have played a number of games in India. What standard of cricket where they playing?
They also seem to have been there a while, that must have cost a shed load of money and have they improved enuf to justify that expenditure?. You'd surely only spend that sort of loot on really gifted players? And why is it necessary? If they're going to be good enuf to play men's international cricket they'd be good enough to cope in our franchise system. Im surprised our overseas bowlers are coming from Pakistan and not India?
There surely has to be what you'd term a Return On Investment.
I'm really struggling to see how you even start to quantify that. ZC are spending money, there's no doubt, but when will we see the results?
This would be a good thing if Chigumbura had put his neck on a block. This is pretty extreme stuff. If he's got it right all power to him, but if its a mess will he be accountable? One school and one academy? Wow!
Probably not. When they start naming academies, buildings and streets after you, its safe to say youre in for the long haul. Will they change the plan next time around if it doesnt work?
Probably not again, they may even double down.
The guys that have played this well so far have been the Blignauts. Very cunning. It's going to be very interesting to see how it rolls out for them. Comes down to one or both of them doing well in the WC if theyre going to be fast tracked.

Both can’t be correct. What posts are saying he averages 38?
For me this is good. There is literally no excuse for failure. I would never want our team to fail so I can only hope Elton is correct. They have tried his formula. Let's see. If it fails then he must be held accountable.
The one thing maybe people can't see yet is that even though it's not always on point, public scrutiny is good in the long term. The very obvious question which will inevitably need an answer whether they like it or not is... How does the election process work and how can one contest. It's coming. Everything must stay in the public eye because the days of secret elections will be over

He has a career average of 8 across all cricket played in Zimbabwe.
Zolsky/Jonty’s manufactured statistics in the spreadsheet, from games that don’t seem to have existed for any other player, magically claim he averages 38 or whatever.

Problem with ZC is when they come up with some formulas. They become so persistent of repeating those same formulas again and again just to hope things will work out. But it just becomes more or less preditable for the opposition.
When they've managed to work it out 1/10 or 1/15 games, they give you "We told you so" energy.
Even with the failures, they will come up with exucuses. Rather than taking much of accountability. "Yeah we've faced some tough lads, who has FC, List A or even little international experience
Atleast this batch did have better preparation compared to previous bathces. Every U19 batch needs to play more againts every province teams every season for the preparation. I think that's one of those bare minimum for the U19 WC preparation.
Honestly I feel bad for those kids getting all the critisism because of ZC being ZC.
