I have a feeling that Mark Vermeulen will be selected for the national side for the Sri Lanka tour.Reason is that ZC first gives green selection in Vermeulen's selection. And then first time an artcle about National League featured in the official website of Zimbabwean cricket when Vermeulen played well.I think, there was a line like this 'Vermeulen is carrying his fine form'.

I think it gives an indication that ZC will include Mark Vermeulen in the national side. Moreover, there are doubts over the place of Tatenda Taibu and Sean Williams. So,Zimbabwe will need an experience batsman at the top of the order to face world class bowling attack of Sri Lanka.Deodhar trophy will be played before the ODI series against Sri Lanka.By playing in the Indian condition and in a competitive tournament,Mark Vermeulen can prepare himself enough for international cricket and this experience will help him in the Sri Lankan tour also.I think,it will be a better option for Vermeulen rather than playing against Namibia and Kenya.

I think, the selectors will not drop Malcolm Waller from the squad. He made a fine debute and scored a 68 against Kenya though missed out in the 3rd and 4th ODI.Same thing goes for Vusimuzi Sibanda,he made a fifty against Kenya.Though there is doubt over his selection in the final eleven,I think he will retain his spot.I think Keith Dabengwa will be dropped from the national side.

I will choose this Zimbabwean 'A' side:

1.Bradley Staddon
2.Bonaparte Mujuru
3.Justice Chibhabha(V-Capt)
4.Tafadza Ngulube(WK)
5.Friday Kasteni
6.Keith Dabengwa(Capt)
7.Stephen Nyamuzinga
8.Blessing Mahwire
9.Trevor Garwe
10.Shingirai Masakadza
11.Tafadzwa Kamangozi
-------------------------------
12.Admire Manyumwa
13.Timycen Maruma
14.Robertson Chinyengetere
15.Taurai Muzarabani

I think, the Zimbabwean 'A' side will be more strong as Charles Coventry returns to Zimbabwean cricket.

It is yet to be seen if Vermeulen and Coventry is picked for the national side against Sri Lanka. If not they will be definitely in the 'A' side.If I am selector( ;) ),I will pick both Vermeulen and Coventry for the national side.

I think from Vermeulen,Coventry,Waller,Chakabva and Chibhabha at least 2/3 players will be picked for the 'A' side.

Well zim A(or at least most Zim A players) will be in India when the Canada tourney begins assuming we make it to the final, they might just catch the second part of the games once they are finished.
12.4 Odhiambo to Vermeulen, FOUR, that's an appalling long hop, Vermulen had plenty of time to get into position, drink a cup of tea, and pull the ball towards the long leg boundary- his first boundary today

The Canada series seems to have disappeared from view recently.

I assume that it is still going ahead as planned this month but at what level now ?, will the games be played as full ODI's now that the Sri Lanka tour has been cancelled or will it be an 'A' level series ?

Well, that's not a good news at all...I reckon if any Zimbabwean side play against Canada,it would have been productive for the players. If 'A' side then to enrich their experience of playing and if the national side then having some winning notes under their belt.Missed opportunity if the series doesnt take place...
