Good news indeed.Do hope for its sucessful preparations and arrangements.

Twenty-20 cricket has become the most exciting version of cricket and by playing in this format of cricket, players can develop their striking power and it will help them to get many runs and get the runs quickly in the board in 50 overs cricket.

It is confirmed now: http://content.cricinfo.com/zimbabwe/co ... 03462.html

But something to notice...
Zimbabwe Cricket has confirmed that the domestic Twenty20 tournament has been switched from Harare to Bulawayo. The competition, which takes place between May 13 and 16, will be staged at Queens Sports Club and Bulawayo Athletic Club.

"Bulawayo Metro Province has been very forthcoming in making a stronger case for the competition to be held in Bulawayo and we reached a final decision to that effect last week," a ZC spokesperson told Cricinfo.

Bulawayo Metropolitan Cricket Association chairman Bradley Staddon told the Sunday News that the switch was "a good development for Bulawayo because we have not hosted any cricket for a long time. We want to put together a good event and prove to Harare that we are capable of hosting a big tournament."

The board has been under fire for moving the entire Logan Cup to Harare, and no major cricket has been played outside the capital for more than a year. The two grounds in Bulawayo are reported by local sources to be in good condition.

Defending champions Easterns, along with Centrals and Northerns are expected to start arriving in Bulawayo on May 11, two days after home side Westerns get back after completing their Logan Cup campaign.

There will be two matches each day at the same venue, with the first getting underway at 9.30am.

It's meant to be Stanley Staddon. Bradley's father.

If in doubt, just apply the Cricinfo Theorem of all opposites must be true.

Thrills expected as Twenty-20 tourn

By Mehluli Sibanda

CRICKET fans in Bulawayo are in for a treat when the city hosts the season ending inter-provincial Twenty20 cricket tournament starting on Wednesday.

The final will be played on Saturday at Queens Sports Club.

Bulawayo has not played host to any top class cricket since the end of last year when the city played host t the four-day match when Zimbabwe Select took on touring Sri Lanka and a limited overs warm up match between Zimbabwe A and Sri Lanka. The five One-Day International matches between Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka were all played in Harare. The Faithwear one-day inter-provincial competition was played in Harare. All the matches in the country's premier first class competition the Logan Cup, which ended on Friday, were in Harare. It is the first time that Bulawayo is hosting the Twenty20 provincial competition since its launch in 2007.

Home side Westerns would be out to put up a better performance after a poor display in the Logan Cup. The Tawanda Mupariwa led Westerns should be inspired by playing in front of their fans in Bulawayo. With hard hitting Charles Coventry and Mark Vermuelen and should they combine well with Mbekezeli Mabuza, Sean Williams, Keith Dabengwa and Tafadzwa Ngulube, Westerns should do better this time around. Mupariwa and Christopher Mpofu leads the bowling attack with fellow seamer Njabulo Ncube while spinners John Nyumbu and Dabengwa also set to tighten up things in the attack. Northerns will bank on the experience of former national team captain Tatenda Taibu, all-rounder Elton Chigumbura, spinners Graeme Cremer and Ray Price. Easterns, who have dominated provincial cricket for the last two years will count on skipper Hamilton Masakadza, national skipper Prosper Utseya, Tymicen Maruma, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Johnson Marumisa and Foster Mutizwa.

Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Tafadzwa Kamungozi and Malcolm Waller are the star players for Centrals. ZC officials in Bulawayo who are part of the tournament's organising committee said the event promises a lot of fun for the whole family.

Fixtures:

13 May, Westerns v Easterns (9:30am Queens), Northerns v Centrals (9:30am BAC), Northerns v Easterns (2pm BAC) Westerns v Centrals (2pm Queens Sports Club).
