Zimbabwe vs Australia

Post by brockley »

When is it likely to happen next.
I think the series in zimbabwe was cancelled.
But think zimbabwe are due here in the next ew years.
Gather no tests played, but one dayers 3 likely, would be hoped zimbabwe played against some state and state 2nd xl teams, especially 4 dayers.

According to the Future Tours Programme, next meeting between the two sides is scheduled for June 2011 in Australia.

I don't think this tour will happen anytime soon because Australian Government will not allow their team to tour Zim and they will deny our team visas to play there.
Australia once suggested a neutral venue but ZC refused.
12.4 Odhiambo to Vermeulen, FOUR, that's an appalling long hop, Vermulen had plenty of time to get into position, drink a cup of tea, and pull the ball towards the long leg boundary- his first boundary today

The trip's two years away - far too early yet for anyone to be thinking about whether it'll go ahead or not.

On past history, I doubt Cricket Australia would have any objections - they still sent their Academy side to Zim long after people were calling for boycotts - but the Aus government would be less keen, especially if things haven't changed politically in Zim when it comes time to confirm the tour. That wouldn't need to be done until early 2011 - by then, if everyone stick to the GPA, Zim should have a new constitution and new elections. Who knows what the situation would be then.
