4th One Dayer: Zim VS BD Team Assessment and Expectations

Post by bullseye28 »

Team Assessment

Bangladesh

Batting

Junaid is back : Bangladesh Batting worries is taken care of Junaid and Tamim barring the last One Dayer has built solid opening partnership which laid the foundation of later batsman to score freely and build up a good total. One hopes the key Batsmen will play responsibly and rise to the occasion and make up for the mess they have created in the last One Dayer.

Bowling: The spinning department is okay.

Pace Department:

It is a real worry in pace department with only Rasel doing okay .Though Robin has grabbed two early wickets in the last One Dayer he has gone for 84 runs which is unacceptable in any form of cricket.

One hopes he had spent adequate time with bowling coach to iron out his issues and ensure that he does not give away too many runs in the fourth One Dayer.

Zimbabwe:

Batting:

The Batting department looks ominous with some astonishing innings from Masakadsa and Chigumbura. With Taylor in good nick and likes of good batting resources Vermeulen and Coventry available the Zimbabwe Batting looks definitely stronger than Bangladesh.

Bowling:

Mupariwa has proved that he can cause enough damage having taken he prize wickets of Ashraful and Tamim cheaply in the last One dayer and will go flat out for a repeat or better performance in the 4th On dayer. Price is also in good form.
Overall Bangladesh spin department looks stronger than Zimbabwe.

Fielding:

Both sides have missed sitters as far as catching is concerned. One hopes the Fielding Coaches of both the teams has taken note of that and added inputs as appropriate.

The side winning the toss and electing to bat will have an advantage as this is a good batting pitch . Chasing as we have seen in the last two One Dayers will be difficult especially if the side batting first rattles up a 300 + score.

It will be a close game.

My prediction is 50 50 for either team.

May the best team win.

Good preview. Indeed it will be a close game and 60-40 in favour of Zim IMO.

I think, in this match Bangladesh will come very hard at Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe will also want to repeat their performance of 3rd ODI. All in all, I guess it will be an exciting and close one, think also...

My observation is that Bangladesh team is fatigued at this point. I don't remember seeing Sakib smiling during last two matches, and that's very unusual for him. It will be good show of characters for Bangladeshi boys if they can pull themselves together and win this match.

Bangladesh has won the 4th ODI. I think, Shakib has become very over-confident although seeing everything going in his way. But missed out today for this reason. Confidence is okay but over confidence is surely bad.
