Indians, Pakistanis keen to play for Zim

What was strange was that the South Africans used to let the Rhodesians play for them. There were many famous and brilliant cricketers and rugby players that represented the Springboks. Does anyone know how that was possible?

The guys in blue were the Rhodesians or Southern Rhodesians who played for other countries. You can then click on their names for their records. Great stuff, I'm going back to have a longer look. They were loose about who you could represent in those days. I wonder if they were even issued "honorary" passports to travel on?

One of my favourite players was John Traicos, an Egyptian of Greek descent who represented South Africa and then 22 years later played for Zim and retired at the age of 45 and now lives in Australia. He was a full time lawyer and could be seen most lunch times practicing in the nets at Sports Club. One of our legends.

seriously who does majonga think he is by barring these kids from realising their dreams.If zim born pakistanees or indians wanna play for zim then whats wrong with that.They deserve a chance just like how Mtawarira is playing for the springboks.I wouldnt mind seeing the chevrons without one black zim player because most of them suck!!!!I am black and i dont care which race is chosen to play for our nation as long as they produce results.we even have zimbabwean born malawians playing in the zim national soccer team but most zimbabweans celebrated the qualification even though these guys are involved in the process.We need to liberate ourselves from this behaviour of choosing people according to race or ethnicity...seriously it sucks and that is why we are always left with eggs on our faces each time our team competes.Let us be one as zimbabweans and put race aside....our true nationality is mankind and our true race is human

1.14 year old Pakistanis aren't going to come to zim and try qualify over a decade. They are just clueless.
2. Stop calling them chevrons.

I recall Ali Shah and Dion Ebrahim as being the only Indian looking guys to represent Zimbabwe. Nothing used to annoy me more than the Indian community turning out in their droves to cheer on the Indians when they used to tour back in the old day, they still do it, yet have been here for generations, seriously annoying. Dion was a decent player. Ali Shah went on to become a selector and played the political card well and carefully, a slippery guy.
