Oh, this is worse than I thought. Then there actually is nothing much to look forward to! Also, players of the "diaspora" might not turn up with the hope of the world cup as well...

Those qualifiers will be D day for Zimbabwe. We're going to need the Cricketing Gods to smile or the shit will be so deep not even an oxygenated snorkel will save us.

With both Pakistan and West Indies in the qualifiers most likely, along with Ireland, Scotland and Afghanistan we stand no chance, best possibility is fourth-place I think.

Only one of the top 9 teams will be there, so its only one of Sri Lanka, BD, Pak, or Windies. But then there is Afghanistan. Ireland are struggling but will be at home. Scotland too will be playing at home. Its going to tough.

What do you mean Scotland and Ireland will be playing at home? The qualifying tournament is in Bangladesh.

Our boys don't have the mental strength to qualify ....

They never had the pressure of having to win when they first came into the side cause they were so young no one expected them to win. Since then any time they've had a pressure game they've crumbled or lost .....

T20 WC Qualifier 2014 v Ireland

Game 4 v Afghanistan 2014 ( series was 2-1 )

Game 5 v Afghanistan 2015 ( series was 2 all )

Game 5 v Afghanistan 2016 ( series was 2 all )

Game 3 v NZ 2015 ( series was 1-1 )

Game 3 v Pakistan 2013 ( series was 1-1 )

Game 3 v Pakistan 2015 ( series was 1 all )

T20 WC Qualifier 2016 v Afghanistan

There's probably more but there are a few games I remember where if we won we actually achieved more than a random victory. So I just can't see these guys winning a high pressure tournament .....

We should be aiming for this side for the tournament .....

Burl
Murray
BRMT
Craig Ervine
Sean Ervine
Williams
Moor
Cremer
Madziva
Mumba
Chatara

Mavuta ( under 19's captain )
Musakanda
Jongwe
Lake

Now I included BRMT, SErvine and Lake because I think it's not unreasonable to believe they would return to play for Zimbabwe where as KJ is not returning .....

I've done a bit of 'assuming' that guys like Murray & Mavuta will be up to scratch but from what I've seen of them they have
What it takes ....

Some people aren't big fans of Jongwe and Madziva but I like them cause Jongwe has some arrogance about him and he wants to be the best where as Madziva has already shown he likes being the man at the end when the game is there to be won. He won us the game against BD with bat and the game against India with ball, and even though he bowled some bad balls against Afghanistan when we lost game 5 he still put his hand up at the pressure moment ......

If Brendan Taylor returns we have a chance, if he doesn't it doesn't matter who else comes back - we are out.

Was orig scheduled to be in BD in 2018. But as part.of the ICC new ODI restructuring, all qualifierd will be in regions with conditions similar to the main tourney. Ireland and Scotland complained why BD is hosting qualifiers for an English tourney.

Had not seen news of that, wikipedia still lists the tournament as happening in Bangladesh - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_Cric ... _Qualifier.

I do think it makes sense to hold the qualifiers in the same venue as the actual tournament.

^I am 99.9% sure that that info is outdated. The ICC agreed with Irish and Scottish concerns and decided to move it. Lemme see if I can find a source.

Couldnt find any, but pretty sure I read it in some ICC release.
