Or we could just win as many games as we can

Re: What is the equation now?
Destiny is in our own hands which is good. If we win both our remaining games, points and NRR don't matter.

Having watched that West Indies/Afghanistan game the other day, and the way they folded to spin, who's to say we can't replicate what we did today? Seriously. We looked the dogs bollocks today with the ball and in the field, for all the world to see, including the English..

ZIM not one won another must-win game, they also got a major NRR boost. Scotland can match ZIM, but are seriously under the pump.
ZIM are almost through as is.

Hmm I don't think there's a plausible scenario of us qualifying without at least one more win.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Mar 16, 2018 3:02 pmZIM not one won another must-win game, they also got a major NRR boost. Scotland can match ZIM, but are seriously under the pump.

Afghanistan beat UAE and Ireland, they go to 6 points.
Ireland beat Scotland and Afghanistan, they go to 6 points.
Either scenario is realistic.
Re: What is the equation now?
I highly doubt the Scots will hammer Ireland better than what we did.. I highly doubt that
Anyway the big advantage we have is that we play the UAE last so we will know exactly how many we have to beat them by but the way the tournament is going we could just win on Monday

Yes but on current form ZIM are beating UAE and are strong favorites against the West Indies.brmtaylor.com admin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 16, 2018 3:05 pmHmm I don't think there's a plausible scenario of us qualifying without at least one more win.Kriterion_BD wrote: ↑Fri Mar 16, 2018 3:02 pmZIM not one won another must-win game, they also got a major NRR boost. Re: What is the equation now?
Do any maths gurus know what the NRR situation is? How many runs do we have to play with if we end up on equal points with Scotland, for example?

Re: What is the equation now?
As of right now? Because it will likely change once both teams play another 2 games.brmtaylor.com admin wrote: ↑Fri Mar 16, 2018 4:10 pmDo any maths gurus know what the NRR situation is? How many runs do we have to play with if we end up on equal points with Scotland, for example?
As of now ZIM has the following advantage (0.727 - 0.588 = 0.139). NRR is measured in units of runs/over. Thus in order to get runs, we need to multiply by overs. The average in for/against overs for both teams so far is (150 + 150 + 147.33 + 150)/4 = 149.33.
So 0.139 runs per over * 149.33 overs = 20.8 runs. This is a ROUGH APPROXIMATION.
So Zimbabwe currently has about a 21 run advantage over SCO in terms of runs. So its not a huge number of runs. But whats in ZIM's favor is that SCO beat UAE by 73 runs and ZIM beat IRE by 107.
