Taylor should just go overseas theres no way that ZC will sack him or Chigumbura u cant sack 2 of zimbabwes best I just dont see it happening but if they did well many more players would turn their back on zimbabwe it would be shambles if that did happen.
I can fully understand ZC insisting that the players stick around to compete in the domestic competitions (although they should perhaps think about scheduling the tournaments at a different time of year...). However, Zim's players will be sitting on the arses for the next three months if they stay in Zim, therefore, surely it makes sense to allow them to go to UK...
And how can we believe ZC when they say Sibanda and Williams are still recovering from injury? Seriously, if they lose this bunch, then its curtains for cricket in Zimbabwe. The situation has become miserable just in the matter of a few years...
Indeed. Brendan Taylor was one of the few that stood by the board during the 2004-05 saga. So was Vusi Sibanda and to a lesser extent Sean Williams. Not to mention Elton Chigumbura, I don't think he's missed an ODI in the past 2 years (35 on the trot I believe).
Whatever decisions are made tomorrow will impact on the future of cricket in Zimbabwe in one way or another. We have to hope and pray that it's not the negative kind...
Lovemore Banda wrote:"At the onset of the 2007-08 season, ZC made it clear to every player that they were expected to fulfil all their domestic obligations with the organisation and would only be free to play wherever they wanted after the end of the season (June 2). We have invested heavily by providing exposure to our nucleus of senior players over time. It is only proper that we get a return on that investment by having the players taking part in our domestic cricket and raising the standard of the local game.
"At the end of the season, the players are allowed to play in whichever country they accept an offer from, since ZC stands to benefit if the players remain exposed to a high level of play.
"We remain supportive of all our players and said as much in our letter of May 7 to Taylor, part of the last paragraph of which reads: 'We would therefore encourage you to complete your obligations as per the dates outlined and we remain supportive of whatever direction you so decide your career to take'."

In short: It's either a storm in a teacup, or some very fast backpedalling...
I've just spotted a scorecard on cricinfo for the Lashings World XI.
In a 35 over fixture at Fenners against Cambridge University on 12th june BRM opened and hit 62 from 60 balls in a 1 wicket defeat.
Henry Olonga also played scoring a 3 ball 0 and not getting a bowl.
Both BRM and Henry also played on 8th june against Leys School, BRM scored a 20 ball 6 and Henry a 25 ball 7 in another defeat, Henry, once again, did not bowl.
Their team mates in these 2 fixtures included Mongia, DeFreitas, Rashid Latif, Kallicharran, Emburey, Mullally, and Phil Simmons.
