Full credit to the likes of Wheater and Horton and Weseels who have fully embraced the life style in Zimbabwe.
I think your first statement is a bit unfair. As you acknowledged, no other county cricketer has cried off. It shows Liam Dawson in his true light, possibly, but I don't think his actions can speak for the whole of the 'Western world'...

Wow, that is poor form. Dawson could have learned some good life lessons in Zim, but now he just has a contract bailout on his resume.

Yeah this is bad taste, but I'm not harsh on him.

Think about it- he has no ties to zim at all. Hes a young man in the bush in the middle of a 3rd world nation in Africa and was no doubt lonely and bored. He was probably surrounded by people who couldn't talk English and the thought of 5 months freaked him out.

He should have thought it through more I agree- don't choose a town like mutare when you can live in the glitz and glamour of Harare etc.

But he's a young dumb kid and probably didn't mean any harm and had good intentions.

Some of these chaps have grown up in places were there has been no water or power cuts ..... should adjust well thoooo....... Mutare is a small town and you can easily connect with people .ps most Zimbabwean can speak or understand english (standard language for education) its not like in Mozambique or somewhere where yu have to use sign language .

I dont think it makes him a terrible bloke, either. Just poor judgment and lacking some integrity.

Whilst disappointing, it's easy for many of us who live in countries like Australia and the UK to pass comment. Especially when you don't no the whole story. The same applies when criticising Ervine and Williams.

Terry i am a Zimbabwean (a white one at that) and even though i know that it can be hard it some of the more rural areas, i think to jack it in after a month is a poor effort, should of given it a little longer particulary as they had a few games coming up over the next few weeks.

Just look at Adam Wheater at the Tuskers, he went and worked hard last winter, took himself out of his comfort zone and had a great season at Essex this summer and now is in the england HP Sqaud. I think the whole trip could of been great for Dawson, he could of seen a new side to live and build on his character but sasdley he wanst mentally strong enough.
