Really good news regarding Sean Williams, i thought this time might be for real and that he had been lost.

I've got to change my team now

Sibanda, Masakadza, Chibhabha, Williams, Chakabva, Matsikenyeri, Chigumbura, Utseya, Mupariwa, Price & Mpofu

If Tatenda Taibu is available then he would come in for Regis Chakabva, if only BRM was available as well ........

A series preview has appeared on cricinfo this evening.

It shows a squad of 15 players, for 1,2,3,4 or 5 matches it does not say.

The bulk of the players are as expected, Prosper Utseya, Chamu Chibhabha, Elton Chigumbura, Keith Dabengwa, Hamilton Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Christopher Mpofu, Tawanda Mupariwa and Vusi Sibanda.

Ray Price and Tatenda Taibu are shown along with Timycen Maruma, Ed Rainsford, Forster Mutizwa and Shingirai Masakadza.

No Sean Williams or Regis Chakabva.

Cricinfo are, of course, well known for getting their facts very wrong on occasions, whether this squad is official or a cricinfo assumption is anyones guess, we will have to wait until the morning to find out.

That squad appears to be lifted from ZC's site, here.

Frankly, after all the talk about Chawaguta persauding him to come back etc, I'm amazed that Williams doesn't appear. They're clearly trying to make him walk away...

I laughed at this bit:
During the match, Zimbabwe Cricket will commemorate the International Cricket Council (ICC) Diversity Day, which celebrates the sport as a truly diverse and global activity, played by people regardless of their age, gender, cultural background or ability.

The organisation’s Senior Manager for Communications and Media, Lovemore Banda, said there will be messages read over the public address system at Harare Sports Club, adding:
“ZC is supporting the ICC Diversity Day on Thursday as part of the global celebration of a sport that brings together people from various backgrounds and builds bridges between communities, countries and continents.”
Unless you're white and want to play for Zimbabwe, of course.

No Williams :(

Lets hope Rainsford gets to play all the games. He deserves it.

Lets bring out the "Win it for Madondo" placards. Last time we did that, we thrashed India in a test at Harare, and allmost "Carlisled" and "Marilliared" Australia in Australia. The players payed homage to Trevor in a great way back then. Lets do it for Madondo Jr. this time.

Game under way.

It looks as though the cricinfo squad was correct as todays team is, Utseya, Sibanda, H Masakadza, Chibhabha, Matsikenyeri, Taibu, Chigumbura, Maruma, Price, Mupariwa & Mpofu.

No places for Dabengwa, Rainsford, Mutizwa or S Masakadza and no place for Williams.

I'm going to have a search to see if i can find any joy with Ten Sports, meanwhile Zim, put into bat, are 35-1 after 9 overs, Masakadza 13*, Chibhabha 2*, Sibanda 9 and 11, thank you very much, extras.

Disaster as Masakadza is run out for 15, to quote cricinfo '... Chibhabha calls for the single but sends Masakadza back only after he is almost half way down the pitch ...'.

What a way to lose the best batsman in the side :(

Now 55-2 after 14 overs, Chibhabha 11* Taibu 9*.

No luck with Ten Sports so far.

65/2. Not bad at the moment considering the loss of the openers. I am a bit concerned about the strike rate though because the modern ODI match requires above 250 minimum. I have a sneaky suspicion we will win though.
